I thoroughly enjoyed my two day slow boat trip on the Mekong. Adisak was very helpful in the lead up and the guide onboard was also very friendly. The boat was quite full which meant at times it was difficult to find a place to lounge away from your designated seat. The food was delicious, particularly the second day. I booked accommodation as part of the package only to find out a few days before departure, it was overbooked. I was well compensated with an upgrade, free dinner & some USD. I’m not sure I would rate the off shore tours highly. The first village visit was a little uncomfortable, the cave was boring and the Whisky village was just a tourist stop. That said though, this is a fantastic way to experience the Mekong and Nagi is a very professionally run tour company. They will pick you up in Chiang Khong, take you over the boarder (assist with all Visa requirements) and include all transfers to your hotel at the end.

We had an amazing time and so glad we booked the slow boat trip with Nagi of Mekong. The food was delicious and the boat was very comfortable. Smoothly organized from start to finish. This was probably the highlight of our southeast Asia trip. Thank you to the guide and the family on the boat for this incredible experience.

Best way to take the slow boat from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang. Extremely kind family. The boat is super comfortable with delicious lunch and snacks. Door to door hotel pick up and drop off included. Most people pay in cash after boarding the boat, so be sure to bring enough in either USD (new notes without writing or tears) or Baht.

The stops along the way are nice to stretch your legs. However, we did choose to wait by the boat during a stop at a village as we wanted to respect the space and privacy of the local people.

This is a MUST DO if you are wanting to get a slow boat down the Mekong river to Luang Prabang. Incredibly comfortable boat, on board food is good, tour guide was amazing. They stop off at a couple of villages along the river which is an interesting experience. Hotel stop over in Pak Beng was stunning. This was the best start to our Laos trip!

Lovely cruise! Everything included was excellent. Great food being prepared by the boat family, large buffet with traditional Lao dishes. Our tour guide was very friendly, engaging in conversation, sharing interesting facts about the country. During the two days we made 3 stops, all very interesting. The overnight stay in Pak Beng was wonderful, lovely hotel and cute restaurants with tasty food.

Lena & I joined the two day slow boat tour from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang. It was breathtaking. From the very beginning it was perfectly organized & we felt absolutely safe and welcomed. They help with your luggage, the visa/immigration, all the transfers etc. You actually do not have to worry about anything else then relaxing and having an awesome time.
The stuff on the boat is so welcoming, the two ladies prepare the best lunch! You‘ll get fruits & drinks for free. Everything is clean & cosy.
Our guide was very kind, helpful and funny. He also played with the kids of a family, talked to everyone & can easily answer every question you might have about the river, villages, animals etc.
So all in all we couldn‘t find a better way to come to Laos. AMAZING! You really should take the time and enjoy a lifetime trip :)

One of the highlights of our holiday! Our guide was amazing, very friendly, helpfull and funny. We had an amazing time! Very relaxing, beautiful scenery along the way. You visit 2 local vilages along the way. With the first one it felt a bit uneasy/awkward. At the other one it was better, there they sold a lot of stuff. Definitely book your stay inbetween in pakbeng at Le Grand, we stayed in the mekong villa, it was the best hotel ever (beautiful sunset view, infinity pool, super friendly staff), worth the money. Go eat in pakbeng at Sabaidee (recommeded by our guide), best curry you will ever eat (try the buffalo one!), not spicy at all, very creamy and tastefull! We went there with a part of the cruise group, we had a lovely evening!

So glad I booked this and not the public slow boat. Our guide was amazing and had great English. Loved all the different stops on the way and the food on board the boat was good too. Definitely worth the money

Very well organized tour, everything went smoothly. The food in the boat was really good and the staffs were very nice. The guide could provide more information before visiting the Hmong village (what we about to see, why we are stopping there), and more general information about the Mekong and Laos.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 day slow boat cruise. We had a very friendly tour guide who introduced us to Lao culture and spoke great English. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to do the slow boat to Laos but wanting to sit back and enjoy the ride. It takes out all the stress of organizing anything, although it does cost a lot more than the local boat, you're guaranteed a seat and lounging areas as well as lunch!

Excellent 2 day cruise between huay xia and luang prabang. Good from start to finish. Collection from chiang khong onto the boat and transfer to accommodation in pakbeng and luang prabang. Food on boat was excellent. Plenty of opportunities to talk to other people on the boat and to walk around . So glad we choose this trip rather than the public slow boat. A couple joined us on day 2 saying they'd taken the public slow boat, where it was overpacked with 250 people, and people were sat in the engine room and the kitchen. They were so traumatised that they stayed in pakbeng for a couple of days then continued on our boat. Definitely the right decision for us. The boat stopped day 1 in a village of the hmong tribe. Then day 2 stopped at pak o cave and whisky village. Not really worth the stop but nevertheless it was nice to get off the boat, and saved making a separate trip from luang prabang. The trip cost $140 each with out accommodation in pakbeng which we arranged ourselves, but totally worth it. I think the public slow boat is more suited to the young backpackers who can tell others about their great experience and adventures, but not for me.

Everything was great!
They handled everything as professionals, they picked people up in the border and at the end of the trip took them to their accommodation.
Some people that got the public boat on the second day were trying to look for places on the private ones.
Totally worth the extra money, clean toilet, meals provided, fruit and water for the whole trip, only had to pay for beer/drinks or chips but not overpriced.

We have had a great experience travelling from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang. The rise was very relaxing, the food onboard was really delicious (vegetarian option included) and the view of the Mekong riverside will be a fond memory.

Very enjoyable cruise. I’m not normally one to slow down, but just watching the beautiful country slowly roll by, talking, drinking tea, and reading was very relaxing. Good idea to bring some small games/cards to while away the hours.

One village stop on the first day was interesting to see how some villagers live along the river, but also a little weird to walk through their space unannounced and without much interaction.

Some really beautiful handicrafts at a village on day two - I did not have to take a bottle of Lao whiskey home with me!

Pak Ou cave was also included on day two. Interested to see, but underwhelming compared to expectations.

Our guide, Sai, was very friendly and attentive. The food was basic fare but tasty and generous.

Pak Beng was a nice enough stop but the town is still recovering post COVID so there is very little there. But accommodation was well positioned (overlooking the river and a short walk from town) and very comfortable.

All arrangements, from door in Chiang Khong to door in Luang Prabang, we’re taken care of. Would definitely recommend. Depending on accomm option, price between USD165 and USD190 for cruise, lunches, accomm, transfers.

Our 2 day cruise with Nagi one of the highlights of trip in Laos and Thailand. My teenagers also loved it. Scenery beautiful and boat comfortable with plenty of seats and lounges to lay back on. Buffet lunches were tasty with plenty of options. While most in our tour were picked up from Chiang Khong we crossed the border ourselves into Huay Xai which was very easy and meant we didn’t have such an early start day 1. While Nagi of Mekong more expensive than cheap boats we met some Brits who did the cheap boat and they said that there was no room to move day 1 and on day 2 more people were on board and sitting in the aisles and it sounded horrendous. Highly recommend spending the money for an unforgettable amazing trip. FYI - it’s cold in the morning so rug up.

Excellent from start to finish. Booked by email (very quick replies) and from car to pick us up in Chiang Rai to drop off at our hotel in Luang Prabang everything was smooth and professional. If you want to pay that bit more to go by private rather than public boat we can recommend this company. We are family of five, two adults with three children 11, 14 and 16. A truly fantastic two day trip!

We really enjoyed our time with Nagi cruise. We had intended to get the public boat but when we came across this it seemed like a great deal and also included some stop offs along the way. I really recommend the cruise, it’s one of my favorite parts of our trip so far. The vegan and veg options for lunch were really delicious too!

We were only on the boat with 3 people and the guide. It was really nice to sit on front of the boat and have a look what was happening down the Mekong. Guide could answer all the questions we had and the lunch was really good!

Very grateful for this slowboat alternative. For a reasonable price, this 2 day,1night tour included a lot. Transfers, border crossing assistance, a great boat with space to sit, relax, 1N with breakfast in PakBeng and 2xlunch on boat included. Also stopped at two local villages as well as the Pak Ou caves close to Luang Prabang. It felt organised, felt well taken care of, and was really grateful we didn't have to deal with the hassle of the public slowboat, lack of accomodation in Pakbeng etc.
Can recommend, we were very satisfied.
