Wat Tham Khao Chakan

Its a beautiful temple, set inside natural geological formation. Many fantastic views. Before coming, keep in mind that it is a religious place, so respect dress code. Also this place has hundreds of monkeys - they fight each other, jump on cars, grab and pull anything loose - dont show them anything you are not willimg to part with. Also bunch of dogs - they are territorial pack animals - keep it in mind. If you decide to climb to the top of the cave - expect slippery slopes without handrails at the most top part at the falling height of 30+ meters.

Visit 17th March 2022. Lots of Monkeys so don't let things lay around that you don't want to loose. Extreme hot day so I didn't climb the stairs. Clean and tidy and parking and shade. Food and drink stalls. Monk at shrine. Nice little temple at one end at the bottom.

Beautiful view, take water and prepare for a long climb up. There is a prayer/meditation area right before the top. The steps are very steep and a bit treacherous so take care going up to the very top. Monkeys are everywhere and can be fed or just left alone. If you don't want to make the trek up to the top there is also a meditation/ prayer area at the bottom.

Great experience for this sacred place, you have to take the long way upstairs. First it will look so easy for you but then when you almost all the way up it will be totally different. The top wooden stairs are also not that strong and the you need to be very careful when you steps especially on the way down. Only this short route might need a whole bottle of water, but will will be worthy to try if you can.

Talk with monks, feed the monkeys, climb up 300 stairs to a nice view over khao chakan. For free. Monkeys are well mannered.

Nice shrimp and minced pork dumpling noodles with serving of roast duck, roast pork and pork for your pickings.

Tonnes of wild monkeys! Amazing. You're allowed to feed them with fruit, nuts, etc too. They're a bit more chilled out and less aggressive than the Lopburi monkeys are. I guess these ones are well fed.

There's also a climb up the mountain but I didn't get to go up, so I can't speak about that unfortunately.

Lots of monkeys, and temple built in to the mountain. Very nice place to drop by for a quick visit.

Nice temple built into the side of a mountain. It gets the name monkey temple as there are a lot of monkeys living there. Free to enter and go up but donations to the monks would obviously be appreciated.

Peace calm and relaxed, except many of monkeys live here, so please beware your belongings all plastic bag, food, telephone etc. keep it away from them. Green scenery, 300 steps of ladders to the buddha at the hill with great view.

Beautiful temple! Amazing views from the top,but not an easy trek up,but it was worth it! Be careful of the monkeys.

Its a cool place you can look at the view of the khochang beach its quiet and nice cool breeze from the trees
