Everyone at Fig tree is very nice and accommodating. Our room had a comfy bed and a private bathroom with a warm water shower that lasted long enough for two people.

The grounds are lovely with a little shop, big pool, and lots of greenery.

A very nice place to start safari. The place is a connection point for various groups that plan on safari.

The rooms are clean and just perfect. The food menu is amazing. Only possible improvement is the setting up of a strict deadline in the night to cut down the noise in the dining area.

The place is also in vicinity to local fruit and veg market.

Susanna is super sweet. We enjoyed the food and a good swim in the pool after a long day on safari. Recommend!

Definitely a layover hotel. That said. The staff were top notch, beds comfortable and food good. I especially appreciated the selection of vegetables! That alone made the Fig Tree stand out as a cut above Rooms had ceiling fans. Leaving poor marks on this establishment for not having AC is silly. People need to do their due diligence, honestly it's an embarrassment to their education. The pool was so nice to swim in and then chaise loungers very comfortable. Many places to find to read a book on the property.

Stayed in this Lodge on Friday 4th August 2023 on a trip organised through Kipe Adventures. The lodge and the setting are stunning. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The food is outstanding (personally presented by the chef himself). The staff, in particular Abdul, were all lovely. Gorgeous pool to relax by. Very spacious (and clean) rooms. I highly highly recommend it - the location is also great as a base to visit the many lakes and parks nearby and the town of Mto Wa Mbu is also gorgeous.

Nice Hotel with super friendly stuff. Cheap and clean rooms. Bathroom was big and clean. Warm water and enough towels. Pool is nice and the bar is with a small but good selection to enjoy the evening on the terrace. If needed they will call you transport or support and any other means. The Manager was super friendly and well aware about his business. We’ll maintained and comfortable for a night or one more between safaris.

Great place that is well located. Central but still calm at night. Nice rooms and garden. The stuff is super friendly. I particularly remember Abdul who was very attentive.

A good and a budget lodge to spend a night or two during your safari. They have a fantastic guy cooking very cool breakfasts. Rooms are clean, have fans and a big shower room. The pool could be cleaner but it's fine to swim there :) Pool chairs are very dated. No WiFi in the rooms, but you can sit in the relatively big dinning room with WiFi available. Cellular connection works fine. Of course, comparing to European standards this one would be 2 stars at max, but among the local not-expensive things this is a good and quiet place.

We have had an amazing 4 day visit. The manageress & staff could not have been kinder. A lovely breakfast & dinner, very helpful advice on bus timetables & how to get to the places we wanted to visit - and arranging a bajaji to take us there.
The pool, flowers, coolness, shade & calm - truly memorable.

A nice place to do some camping. The staff is kind and gentle and ready to help. Probably too few bathrooms and showers for so many people staying there. Near to the main street where are present many place to spend the night.

The rooms at fig are good value for the price compared to other places I've stayed in Tanzania - large with a comfortable bed. The staff are very helpful and it's great to have a pool after getting back from safari. The food was nice so we found ourselves eating at the lodge even though there are lots of restaurants in the town.

We organised a safari directly through this lodge, renting one of their reasonably priced vehicles with a great driver/guide for a day trips to tarangire and lake manyara, then a longer overnight stay in the serengeti and ngorogoro crater. Desderia the manager was happy to arrange park permits for us and suggested some helpful improvements to the plan that I wasn't aware of, like a guesthouse in the Serengeti which cost the same as the camping fee. I would definitely recommend this approach over organising through a travel agent in Arusha. It gives you control over the itinerary so you can ensure you're at the park for opening time when animals are most active, it's more comfortable to stay at fig than camp and it's cheaper than an equivalent safari organised through an agent because you're not paying middlemen.

Desderia is quick to respond to questions through WhatsApp.

A great place in Mto Wa Mbu. The rooms (all things considered) are very comfortable, with own bathrooms. You can also sleep in a tent outside if you want to have that experience (very nice, by the way). The staff is nice and the food is local and delicious. If you want to have a real experience of Tanzania, this is one of the places to get it. Big recommend!

We stopped at this place as fate would have it and we are very grateful to the people who work in this lodge for their hospitality. They helped us, fed us, let us rest. Special thanks to the administrator Desderia, a very pleasant person. They have a swimming pool, they cook good food - we definitely recommend this place!
