Eco Shamba Kilole Lodge

This very well maintained and beautifully designed eco lodge offers a delightful experience with wonderful rooms with views of the sea and mangrove swamps. The well-maintained grounds provide a nature-immersed atmosphere.
The dedicated staff consistently demonstrated friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere. The two owners are friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay, The charm of this place lies in its connection to nature, stunning vistas, sea activities, and a touch of African culture. Ideal for those who appreciate a magical setting totally immersed in nature. I would go back in a heart beat.

We had an absolutely ideal experience at Shamba Kilole Lodge, spending 6 nights there for our honeymoon.
Our room and the entire lodge was beautifully decorated, everything was spacious, tasteful and perfectly suited to the environment.
Food was also incredible, with 3 course meals every evening with the freshest ingredients - fish, homemade pasta, and tropical desserts - delicious breakfasts with amazing local fruits, and an optional lunch that was consistently fantastic.
Marco and Francesca are truly gracious hosts and have built a professional and friendly team that we were lucky to get to know during our visit. They are also involved in local causes that benefit Mafia Island locals and environment which were interesting to learn about.
In all, every detail you can imagine was taken care of with incredible care. I would describe Shamba Kilole as the absolute idyll of a boutique hotel, and I truly hope that we will be lucky enough to visit again someday soon!

The lodge is inside the marine park, really close to the main diving center. The service is amazing. Marco, Francesca and the staff are kind and ready to help with whatever needs you have. Marco also knows the island and all its opportunities very well.

The owners are so amazingly welcoming. The lodge does not have a beach, but we chose it for it's reputation for being extremely eco-friendly. Many of the other resorts in Mafia claim to be "eco-lodges" but there is nothing eco-friendly about them. They just enjoy being in the amazing Mafia Marine Park eco-system, but do nothing to actively protect or promote it. Shamba Kilole is different! They go the extra mile to ensure you have a comfortable and sustainable visit to Mafia. The pool and the view more than make up for the lack of beach!

Hosts, staff and food were all amazing. The bungalows are basic but beautifully presented. We were treated like visiting friends, and nothing was a hassle.

Mafia is a must do while in Tanzania, and Shamba Kilole is the perfect accommodation.

Pour le prix on s'attendait a beaucoup plus.. L'endroit n'était pas moche , la décoration des chambres était très jolies mais aucune vie.. pour le repas du soir même pas un peu de musique de fond.. c'était sombre .. quand on est arrivés nous avons demandé a Francesca ou se trouvait le chemin pour aller au bord de la mer et quand nous sommes descendue il y avait des bouteilles en plastique par tout..trop dessus! il fallait marcher 20 min pour aller dans un endroit plus jolies.. ils nous ont également demandé ce que nous voulions manger car on était seuls les premiers jours donc pour un repas nous avons demandé du poisson bien frit * car nous n'avons pas de carte * et francesca a dit que c'était OK.. et au memont ou on attendait le repas ont voit arrivés des filets de poissons.. on as rien compris... elle nous a dit que c'était compliqué de pêché a cause de la marée et donc le soir nous sommes partis chez les locaux et devinez quoi.. ils sont allés pêché du poissons que pour nous, devant nous.. et on s'est tellement régalé et nous avons payé casi rien... biensur le lendemain nous sommes retourné chez les locaux pour remanger chez eux car c'était juste excellent ! Dommage que avec tout le personnel que ECO shamba a, a sa disposition nous avons pas pu manger ce que nous désirons surtout que s'est eux mêmes qui nous ont posé la question.
