Bustani B&B

The Butiama Bustani guesthouse is one of three hotels on Mafia Island under the Butiama name, which is a locally owned company. We spent two nights at Bustani and it was wonderful. The staff are extremely warm, accommodating and helpful. Special mention to Bonita at the front desk. She gave us clear and helpful information on arrival, arranged early dinners for us on request, and coordinated our whale shark trip. The rooms are comfortable, good aircon, and the entire place is just so peaceful and quiet, almost like a retreat, which was extremely welcome after the hustle of Dar. And, they have a resident dog Pablo, to really make it feel like home! I would stay here again for sure.

An oasis of tranquillity with friendly staff. We spent four very comfortable nights at Butiama Bustani enjoying the beautiful gardens, pool, bar and superb accommodation. The staff were extremely warm, accommodating, and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were delightful with a range of choice to meet anyone’s needs. The resident friendly dog, Pablo made it feel like a home.

Had the best time here. Staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. Food was delicious. Room was a great size, and the facilities were great. Loved spending time in or around the pool, or walking the short distance to the beach. Great location for the airport and town centre. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future

What a beautiful place - the rooms are so nice incl. all you need (hot water, A/C, super clean....) the garden is beautiful, and the view from the pool towards the ocean is a dream. Water, Coffee & Tea is always complimentary, the Staff is very friendly, food and drinks are good, prices reasonable and there are just a few rooms, so it is very calm and relaxing. I would return to there anytime! Note - no beach access!

We stayed here for 10 days in October 2023, and we loved how the nice people at Bustani made us feel very welcome and home. The hotel and pool area is very relaxing and the rooms are clean. But the best thing about this place is the friendly management and staff. And Pablo the dog ❤

Out of the 2 places we stayed at on Mafia Island, this was the better one, for roughly the same price. Great staff, good food, peaceful environment within the hotel grounds. The rooms were clean. Shower water pressure was good, and hot water comes almost instantly.

One of the best places I've ever stayed! Bustani is such a fantastic place to be. It's away from the bigger touristy places on the island and the staff are so kind, helpful and fun. We were a group so had had the place to ourselves utilising all 10 of their fantastic rooms.

The food was excellent, we had everything we needed and the team couldn't do enough for us. We had a great night out at a local bar with the team and some of our other new friends which we'd met during our visit to Mafia and I can't recommend Bustani enough.

Amazing service, great and natural food, felt very warm-welcomed by management and staff. Rooms are very comfortable and inside there is everything you need during your travelling over Africa. Very clean area, rooms and amazing garden

Exceptional staff! From the GM, reception, waiters and housekeepers, everyone was nice Which is not the case everywhere on Mafia. Amongst the hotels we tried in our stay in Tanzania (about 7 hotels), they were the most welcoming, smiling, polite and helpful. We visited 4 hotels in Mafia and Bustani definitely has the best value in terms of room, service and food. It is a good place to stay if you want a balance of activities in the morning (diving, snorkeling, whale sharks), eating well and being quiet in the afternoon around the pool while not having to overpay for your rooms. We also enjoyed the pool. They provide beach towels, a plus, and give bottles of water everyday and fresh water by the pool. The room are spacious clean and comfortable. They also prepare your room for the night and spray for mosquito. Breakfast was also good and they have 3-course dinner option at 15USD. From the moment we arrived until the end of our stay, they did an amazing job. Congrats to the general manager for training and choosing the staff. Definitely the best on the island.

Wir haben einige Nächte in diesem schönen, sehr ruhig gelegenen Hotel verbracht und wurden während unseres Aufenthalts komplett verwöhnt. Das Zimmer war geräumig eingerichtet und entsprach komplett unseren Erwartungen, der Pool und die Gartenanlage sorgten für eine entspannte Atmosphäre und das sehr freundliche, zuvorkommende Personal sorgten für einen erholsamen Aufenthalt auf Mafia Island. Vielen, herzlichen Dank auch für die Geburtstagsüberraschung. Das Essen war stets sehr gut, sowohl Frühstück wie Abendessen hat uns (als Vegetarier) gepasst. Die Bar hat ein breites Angebot und bereitet gute Drinks zu.
Aktivitäten konnten direkt bei der Reception gebucht werden, alles klappte einwandfrei und der Transport zu den Aktivitäten wurde mittels des eigenen Services immer kostenfrei angeboten. Wir konnten die Walhai-Exkursion und mehrere Schnorchel-Expeditionen problemlos und ohne grosse Vorkenntnisse buchen, dies alles zu einem sehr fairen Preis. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt.

Kleines (10 Zimmer), sehr ruhiges Hotel mit Pool, zum Meer ca. 100m. Essen sehr lecker, Personal, vom Manager bis zum Koch hervorragend (besser geht es nicht), jeder Wunsch wurde erfüllt. Gesamte Kellnermanschaft sehr herzlich.

Le personnel est incroyablement serviable et disponible. Merci particulièrement à Clarence qui nous a apporté une huile de coco naturelle pour soigner nos coups de soleil de touristes :). La nourriture est très bonne. La propreté est irréprochable. La piscine parfaite. Merci pour tout !
