Jinky's Kanan Cafe

I like it! August 2023.
And it's one of the rare places that serves breakfast until 3pm.

Good spot for families, a date, travelers, tourists, groups, etc. Inside and outside patio dining.

Food: generous portions, value for what you pay. In my honest opinion, you get more food, and at a lower price, than some of the other places in the area.

Eggs Benedict is delicious. Tangy, creamy, it's what you expect from this classic dish. Potatoes with onion and red peppers on the side (homestyle?) were delicious. Seasoning is spot on.

Pancakes: 8-9" in diameter, about .5 thick at least. I went simple this time around, and the Large size with 3 pancakes is very filling.
Want the food coma and sugar rush? Get the banana split, but be ready for the sugar rush.
I highly recommend upgrading your pancakes with a two egg and either a pork patty (2 of them), apple chicken sausage or two bacon strip addition for $4.50. The extra protein in there will minimize the sugar intake, or so they say. Whoever they is. Lol.

As a side note, a table next to us had ordered a couple of salads, and those were huge. Like probably double the size of a normal dinner plate, served in a massive bowl.

Parking, a breeze during the week around lunchtime. Afternoons and weekends might be a little tricky, only because Trader Joe's is in the same parking lot. So just be patient. People in this part of town are usually pretty friendly regardless.

Atmosphere inside is nice. It feels like you're in a cross between a mountain cabin, and a darker Cafe. My only gripe is that it is a little noisy between the radio playing, and poor acoustics. Note to management. You may want to consider putting in some kind of acoustic baffling to reduce the Echoes and noise bouncing off the walls.

Other than that, I still give this place five stars.

Our server was exceptional as well. Checked on us a couple times, and was very helpful in suggesting the potatoes as a side dish for the eggs benedict.

I will be back for sure.

Highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch! The options are extensive, including a decent amount of healthy options like the Quinoa Breakfast bowl.

I've had several delightful experiences dining at Jinky's in the past, which made my recent visit all the more surprising. On a special morning, I embarked on a 35-mile journey, eagerly anticipating their renowned breakfast. However, upon arrival, I was greeted with the unexpected news that they had ceased operations. Disappointingly, there was no mention of this closure on their website, leaving me uninformed and a bit disheartened.

Nevertheless, this twist of fate led me to discover a fantastic alternative nearby named 'Sunrose'. For those reading this review and seeking a new breakfast haven, I highly recommend giving Sunrose a try. Their 'Dutch Baby' is particularly noteworthy – a culinary delight that shouldn't be missed. It's moments like these that remind us of the ever-changing landscape of local eateries and the hidden gems we find along the way.

Update: I oberved a recent update from Jinky's, in the reviews, and it looks like they're looking for a new spot in Agoura and have another location in The Valley.

Our large group was able to find seating right away on a Saturday morning at 8:30am ish. Food was very good and good quantity as well. Great place for breakfast!

I was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the food. This place is definitely going to be a repeat visit. I had to Huevos Rancheros. Usually, the dish is too mild for what it should be at other restaurants. This place did it right!

I ordered an oatmilk vanilla latte with this delicious fruit and Nutella french toast. Everything smelled delicious, it was hard to decide. Menu options varied between Mexican and american, breakfast and lunch options. Sat at the bar where the barista was attentive and had quick and friendly customer service with all his clients. Overheard someone rave that he (Nasario) makes the BEST micheladas, will have to go back and try it and other plates Jinky's has to offer.

You won't regret a stop here ... do it before shopping at Traders Joe and avoid buying the entire market! 🤣. Outdoor patio is nice. This is Always a great place for chilling! ..and CHILES!! Love that they always have from super hot 10 to mild 1 ... ask to try a combo of 2 in a bowl or cup!! & pair it with sliders 😊 They too also subscribe to many discount dinning offers, rewards & coupons which is great when sharing bills with friends. My visa doubles the savings with them ! Win-win!!

Great local place, with traditional American / Californian food ( american w/ Mexican infusion) with gourmet twists.

Attentive wait staff; really tasty, beautiful food; reasonable (but still generous) portions. I had the huevos rancheros, and they were excellent. I also tried the breakfast potatoes, and they were wonderful. Cute place with a nice patio.

Service was fast and friendly. Food was top notch. I recommend the Jinky’s favorite omelette on your next breakfast stop.

Great house coffee, and even better service! I had the voodoo omelet, just the right amount of heat for your average "spicy food lover". Cozy location and interior. If I am in the area again I will happily come back. Thanks!

This is a great little breakfast place near in Calabasas. Right next to Trader Joe's and close to the highway. The good: Food was delicious, portions were large, service was great, family friendly. The bad: 3.95% service tax for labor costs. Probably a sign of the times. They did offer a 5% discount for paying with cash vice credit card but there was no ATM in the immediate area. Recommendation: put an ATM in the restaurant then you get ATM fees on top of saving customers money. I'd go back!

Great restaurant. Many options for breakfast, with tons of healthy choices and substitutes. Very friendly staff. Food is delicious. The scrambles are great and the pistachio lemon french toast is yummy. They have good kids options and the portions are just right for the little ones.

Really good food! So this was my second time to Jinky’s (off Kanan) and I can’t begin to tell you how tasty the food is, the service is great, you can tell that they might be on the edge of being short staffed but they work hard to get folks their food in a timely manner.

We ordered the French toast and Berry Pancakes, sadly we were too engulfed in enjoying breakfast to take a picture, but I can tell you that it was worth every calorie.

Don’t forget to get a cup of coffee!

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. They are one of the few places that sell Impossible burgers.

Welcoming staff. Very warm, helpful, in a pleasant mood and, of course, it makes a person enjoy the dining experience here. Service first...CHECK! DONE! Now food: My first trip today I can only comment on the scrambled eggs...made perfectly.

In noticing the goings on here at Jinky's, I'm struck by the fact that the people working here appear to be quite happy, noticeably so. That's refreshing compared to a lot of businesses where the employees are just there for a paycheck and it shows.

Environment:
It has a "homey" feel. Nice wood interior and a full fireplace. A wood tile-like floor. There is a counter with 7 seats, which I happened to make use of. I liked the hunter green marble counter at the counter. Stylish!
