Stanly County Social Services Department

Waiting time was fairly short & comfortable. Everyone from the ladies taken information & calling numbers to the social workers. All were extremely pleasant * compassionate. Over all great experience.

The front desk is always so helpful and so nice! Wait time is pretty much always short. Great team of social workers work there. Thank you Stanly county dss! God bless you all!

I've had good experiences dealing with the staff here. They were quite helpful in getting things straight when I moved here from another county and was receiving assistance from several programs. Recertifications get completed promptly. If I need to call in with a question I've not had a problem getting through or receiving a timely response.

I gave it 4 stars because it deserves 4 stars. I have been to other county offices for different reasons over time including child support and yes, food stamps, etc. When you compare this office to other's you would realize how much better they are than other offices. You hardly ever have to wait long, they are organized and stay on time with your applications and their services. They have a play area for smaller children which should be a requirement given the statistics of the amount of single women with children requiring their services. The only reason I didn't give it the last star is because one of the women at the desk is always rude and short with you. She talks to you like you're a complete idiot if you don't know exactly how to go about getting something done like you should just no and it can't possibly be your first time, and because they are behind the times with having a way to manage your business online and their worker's phones are never answered and if their voicemail isn't full they rarely call tou back so you end up still having to go in.

DOES ANYONE EVER ANSWER THE PHONE?! Are you not a place of business???
Forms are sent out weeks after they have been generated and then you have 3 days to get it back on time. Why is everything PAPER?! If you are going to send out forms late and not answer phones or return calls… more online options need to be set in place.

DSS in Stanly County is the worst I have ever seen. They will let a known drug dealer who is jail right now under 600 thousand bond for being busted for selling drugs and his girlfriend who is a crack head and selling drugs have custody of all of his children when the Mom of 4 of those kids can't get custody of her own children and she works a full time ligament job. It sad when you are crake heads and drug dealers and you can pay pay off the lawyers. Judge ans DSS. That is Stanley County for you. Dealt with them too many times
So Sad the kids are the ones who have to suffer and that is who DSS is supposed to be helping. Thats politics for you.

I wanted to give 0 stars. They don’t care about your children. I want go into detail but my kids need to be out of that home with there mother and all they do is check the house and try to tell them how to correct the situation instead of them stepping in and solving it. There main focus is making sure you pay child support and don’t care about the children. It’s a sad place to live if you are a child that needs help

Stanly is literally one of the worst counties in NC! From social services to kids events. They are still in the 1970s its really really sad.

Pick up the phone and call people instead of just trying to do everything digitally. Worst service ever!!!!
