Despite the nearby highway and train traffic this is the loveliest most peaceful park in the county. Water quality is yet to be determined, but I suggest filtering for purifying before drinking.

Beautiful green space, watch for snakes In the warm months. Read the book, In and Out of lines to get the story on the original home during the civil war. Also has some drawings of the house. The 2nd largest Oak in Georgia lives there. It's an amazing tree.

There is a lovely little spring coming out of the rocks on a bank in this park. Also, there is a huge oak tree that is the second largest oak in Georgia! (There is a sign saying that you have to have a permit to go in, but we talked to locals and they said that you could go in for a little while and they wouldn’t care.) We spent about an hour there. The park is surrounded by a private “preserve“ that has something to do with guns but we didn’t hear any shooting or anything. There are a lot of signs on the border of that property saying no trespassing, however, the park is open to the public. It is a nice place to stop and visit. Wish they would put in a picnic table or some benches, at least to sit and look at the tree or the spring! Also wish they would tell you to just call the number on the sign to officially get into the park
