Dr. Hayes has been my primary care physician for over 25 years. He has always taken an active interest in my care and even though I have several different, challenging, health conditions I don't feel as if he has given up on me. He listens which (I find) is a rare commodity these days. He is the only doctor I have ever had who has called me at home to ask how I feel. He will be my doctor as long as he is practicing in this area.

I dont know why there are so many negative reviews. I google to get hours and seen the rating. Started taking my three children here this year and I have never had a problem. The staff are sweet and Dr. Coleman is down to earth and really is good with kids. All the nurses have been respectful and kind each time we've been here.

I made an appointment to see a doctor. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time and was taken back almost immediately. The nurse was very nice. Dr. Crook was awesome. I really felt like she cared about my health, she asked good questions, she listened to my concerns. I've not had a better experience with any Doctor in the Lynchburg area. Well done.

Dr. Parr and Team provided excellent triage to my elderly father today, after a fall. So lucky to have this team and facility in Amherst, VA. Quick, caring, and thorough. Thank you to all who helped us today.

Tracy Langabeck is amazing! She truly cares for the needs of her patients. She is patient, kind, and understanding of patients; she is a great doctor. The staff here is pleasant and very friendly. The new facility here is beautiful. Rest assure you are in good hands here.

Usually I have great service with this office but recently with two doctors leaving and my son having to have appointments pushed back or not being seen for months has been frustrating. It is also frustrating to call and have an admin staff be somewhat rude when asking questions about appointments or the issue of so many doctors leaving the office. My son is a patient and I am asking about the quick turnover rate within the office to determine going somewhere else. So Jennifer of the office, no need to get smart or have an attitude when asking a simple question ma'am. When concerning my son, yes I am going to ask. In less than two years, both of his doctors have left and it causes a lot of delays with my son's health and check ups.

I have had 3 different doctors and NPs in less than a year. Why do they keep leaving? Sometimes it takes 10 days to 3 weeks to get a prescription renewal approved by the doctor. The "new system" is blamed, but isn't fixed. The nurses and staff seem to me to be under a lot of stress.

I'm done. Have annual in 1 week and will keep it for refills but that's it. Can't get a call back or prescription filled, its always been this way but I've finally had enough. Have COVID, called twice today but no response...explained this is my 3rd day of symptoms but just tested positive...for the meds to help I need to get on them soon but apparently healthcare is a 9 to 5 proposition here. Next day 11am still no call, so I call them, I'm told my doctor is with patients and given no ETA of when/if she will be able to call me back. I have a primary care doctor but here I sit getting better care in a walk in clinic! DISGUSTED AND DONE WITH CENTRA AMHERST.

>>BOTTOM LINE:
DR CROOK WAS THE RUDEST, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCOOPERATIVE, NARCISSISTIC, AND BASICALLY A HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING - SHE DID NOT CARE FOR ME AT ALL!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN!!!!!

>>Details:
I have NO idea how this woman is getting 5 stars everywhere?? I had just moved from Arlington, VA, and Washington, DC (where all my medical providers were located) and I was searching for a new PCP in the Lynchburg area, Unfortunately, I decided trying Dr. Crook, due to her ratings - ha [big mistake]!

> Here's how my 1st appointment went:
My PCP from Arlington sent records via the electronic Federal system (all Drs. have access so it's simple to transfer records - no more faxing or lost pages). This data transfer showed I had been taking 800mg of Gabapentin (GP) x3/day for over 4 years.
In 2019, VA was 1 of only 4 other states which decided GP needed to be added to the "Controlled Substance" list, as a "Schedule V" (the LOWEST level for abuse/addiction). She had received all of my health records and medications from my former PCP, yet, she 'claimed' the GP was not on the list of drugs I had been prescribed - everything else was there, just not the GP? Hence, she REFUSED to fill my GP until she had PROOF that I was on GP - she had no problem filling my other medications (including Baclofen, which she claimed was NOT on the list from my former PCP). I felt like she just didn't want to provide me with the GP (proof or not)...

> I was stupid enough to make a 2nd appointment:
Before this appointment, I again contacted my former PCP and asked her to send over the records HIGHLIGHTING that GP had been prescribed to me. At this appointment, Dr. Crook acknowledged she DID receive the records showing I was on GP 800mg x3/day. She became disgruntled and angry now that she knew she was WRONG!! She said I was lying etc. and became extremely unprofessional!
*SHE FILLED ALL MY MEDS, INCLUDING THE GP FOR 3 MONTHS (1 +2 refills) - ***AND TOLD ME TO GO FIND ANOTHER DR!!!!*** Basically, she FIRED me, due to her own narcissistic need to be right!!! She told me she provided the 3 months of medication to give me time to find another PCP, because she was done with me!

I brought my daughter after school yesterday at 3:40pm they close at 5:00pm. I was told they quit seeing patients at 3:15pm. She is a patient there since birth she is 14. I work on the following day and explained this to the receptionist. She proceeded to roll her eyes and simply says no. We won't see her. This is not the first bad experience I've had with them just the most recent. This practice has gone way down hill since they switched to Centra. It's a shame when you live so far out and this is the closest and most convenient place for health care and they care nothing about your health? It looks like to me if it wasn't for bad reviews they would have any at all?? Is this what health care has gone to??

Cant get an appointment for weeks now that several of the Doctors have left the practice. Doctors have been brought in from Lynchburg but their old patients travel to Amherst to see them so there is more demand and less doctors to fill it. So if you are sick don't bother calling, even if they pick up, your not getting seen for a while. Centra is inept, and apparently cheep, since they are unable to retain good doctors.

I went here in need of care following an accident. I was seen by a nurse practicioner after a short wait.
She examined me then referred me for a CT scan. The was completed that afternoon at Virginia Baptist. I was told the NP would call me to discuss the scan. Over 24 hours later, several phone calls by myself and my husband, even talking to the director, and no follow up by the staff. No phone call about the scan. I do not trust this organization with my health. I will be using my Sentara health services from now on. Centra health, you have disappointed me too many times.

What a joke! Pulled up at 8am (when they are suppose to open)…employee pulls up casually at 8:05 while the parking lot is filling up, goes in and re-locks the door
I waited 5 minutes and left. 👎

Don't let the name healthcare for you..they could care less about your health or your care.
And then there's the call center that is in dire need of more employees.. there's no reason a person should be on hold for 45 minutes waiting to speak to someone

No one should be required to have an appointment before needing medical attention. Sickness is not planned.
