Steves Sportsman Cafe

We were lost on the other side of Yosemite, and needed gas and to feed the family. The gas station guy recommended Steve's place next door. He guaranteed we would like anything on the menu there. He was absolutely correct. The food was excellent, the quality was good, and they were nice enough to serve us with less that 30 minutes left to close. To top it off I had ordered the special, Shepherd's pie (excellent all around), and Steve himself comes out and offers for us to take home the rest of the lamb stew used in the dish. I love these local diners for the experiences you get, and the people that go with them. Thank you, Steve and the rest of the great staff that helped us out last night!

Hamburger joint next to Valero gas station. Lots of locals eating there adds to the flavor and atmosphere..
I had a chili burger which was delicious and onion rings... Good service, friendly people. Plan to go back again

Stopped here before heading into Yosemite park. It’s styled like a typical local breakfast place. Tucked away next to the gas station and for some reason GPS took us down by the park around the corner.
Once we got inside, no one was there! It was nice to have the place to ourselves and not have to wait. It was around 10:30am so I assume we beat the rush. I got the stuffed pb&j French toast that was fried. Honestly that was just ok, I could’ve gone with some pancakes instead. The loaded hash browns though were amazing!
My friend had pancakes and the hash browns also. It filled us up all day and lasted through multiple miles of walking through Yosemite!

Late breakfast on October 26, 2023. As usual, attentive staff. Coffee came quickly. Ordered. Food came fast. Hot, good portions, very tasty.
Another good meal at Steve's!

2 year update: I've been here at least 2-3 times a month for the last two years, 2 times a week for the past couple months, and have sampled a good portion of the menu. Steve's demand for quality has shown in every single meal. The specials are always super tasty and often unique.

Sept. 2020: Great sportsman-like and casual atmosphere. Super friendly and attentive service. Everything was cooked perfectly! Everything! Crispy hash browns, fluffy and light biscuits, amazingly flavored chicken fried steak (seriously best tasting chicken fried steak I've had in many years, and I judge every new breakfast place I try by their chicken fried steak). We had eggs two ways, poached and over easy, and they were models of perfection. This is my new favorite spot. Hands down.

We did enjoy our burgers and the burger patty with eggs and (!) country potatoes. Definitely, recommended

This place was amazing!!! I had the blu cheese burger with beer battered fries and it was delicious. I also had an order of biscuits and gravy. OMG!!! The biscuit was so soft and the gravy was great. I highly recommend this place. The staff was also very friendly and the service was amazing.

Great food and service with a cozy mountain atmosphere. I guarantee we will stop in again when in the area.

Great as usual!! Breakfast I had at noon. Was a birthday/retirement party brunch for our pastor's wife. WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH. OUR PASTOR'S GREAT and all are welcomed. And toy could probably meet our ladies and our men. We love you all. THE RESTAURANT IS GREAT.!!

We had a great lunch today. My turkey sandwich was delicious ( I added bacon to it) and the clam chowder was so good we ordered a take out bowl for dinner tonight. We will be back. Bring your appetite, they don't fool around with portions!

This is a really nice gem of a restaurant if you're in the area. As of writing this, they do have breakfast all day, so I would take advantage of it because it is incredible. The serving size of the plates are huge in proportion to how much you're paying. For around 16 dollars, you can get a REALLY huge breakfast sandwich that is extremely filling.
A very underrated dish they serve is the stuffed French toast, where they put peanut butter and jelly inside the toast and they deep fry it.

My husband and I go to breakfast here at least a couple of times every week. The staff is very friendly and make us feel like part of their family . They have a great breakfast. We always enjoy getting out from our business, also a restaurant of sorts . We have a small bar and Grill. So we do judge other Resturant’s. We check not only the quality of the food and service, but also the cleanliness of the establishment . I give Steve 5stars !

This place was awesome! Stopped there on my way back to Los Angeles after a very bad weekend in Yosemite and this was the best party if the whole trip. Service was quick, friendly and accommodative. The food was spectacular. Get the Oakie Benedict! It was the best thing I've treated in quite some time. Prices were great, as well. I'll definitely be back!
