Moultrie Montessori School

I cannot say enough good things about Moultrie Montessori School! I started my son there when he was 2.5 years old not knowing anything about the Montessori way of teaching and have been blown away by all that he has learned. Plus, the environment is beautiful, clean, peaceful. This is the only Montessori School in St. Augustine where the teachers have a over 74 combined years of experience teaching Montessori. I have so much faith and trust in this team to care for my son everyday.

Moultrie Montessori is an amazing school. The director, Mrs. Jeannie possesses a special gift of communicating with children in an incredibly peaceful manner. The school grounds are wonderful with lots of outdoor space and three separate buildings for each of the age groups. I highly recommend this peaceful environment for a very stimulating educational experience.

My 7 year old son has been attending Moultrie Montessori School for 3 years. When we moved to Florida, I knew that I wanted Montessori education for him at least until he began Kindergarten - the value of a certified Montessori education for young children is well-documented, and we had already had a very positive experience with Montessori in our home state.

It was also very important to me that the school we selected offer "real" Montessori. There are so many "Montessori-styled" schools and pre-schools that have a watered-down version of what Montessori was created to be. The owner of Moultrie Montessori, who is also a primary teacher, is so steeped in the teachings, strategies, and rhythms of Montessori that we call her "the child whisperer". She uses such gentle, clear ways with the children and they respond beautifully.
She is also fully committed to offering only the best of Montessori - all teachers must be certified and experienced!

We have found Moultrie Montessori to be a fantastic place for our son to learn and grow. When it was time for him to go to Kindergarten and then on to first grade, my husband and I both felt that Moultrie was still the best place for him to be! We were very excited about him being in the Elementary classroom with two incredible Montessori teachers - both of whom were trained rigorously in Europe and have been teaching in Montessori schools for many, many years.

He is learning so much - from reading to geography to science to math. His math skills have been particularly impressive, since the children learn the underlying concepts of math from such a young age with Montessori. When they begin to learn multiplication, for example, they already understand the "why" behind the math. Then the application of the principles is easier!

The most amazing and inspiring part of this process, however, has been watching our son grow and still remain in love with learning. He gets to explore and make choices and that allows him to express himself versus following a prescribed curriculum on a pre-set schedule. A good Montessori education has rigor and goals - and the teachers have very high expectations, happily met by enthusiastic kids!

If you have never seen real Montessori work in action, you owe it to yourself to visit Moultrie Montessori. Visit other types of schools first, then make an appointment to observe these amazing, professionally-trained teachers and our thriving kids. You'll be impressed by the level of independence, confidence, engagement and respect that is demonstrated by all.

My five-year old son is currently enrolled in the Primary class at Moultrie Montessori School. To be honest, our family had a tough time deciding on the best school for our family, and it was a bit of a stretch to commit to the investment of private school. After much discussion between my husband and myself, we decided that we'd go for it and hope the investment was worth it. IT IS!! Ms. Jeannie and Ms. Alexine and the rest of the staff are amazing with the children, and the setting is positive, encouraging, respectful and intimate. Our son is both challenged and supported academically, socially and emotionally. He loves his school, and we've been so impressed with the progress he's made since he started. The other parents are great and the community has been very welcoming to our family.
