Camp Horizon

Really great place to get a trail run or mountain bike ride in around Ark City…an oasis of trails. You can tell lots of love and attention has gone into the grounds and trail work.

I have never camped here or been to any of the retreats or other official activities. I have had limited interaction with staff at Camp Horizon but all of my interactions have been positive and pleasant.

I have hiked there many times and it is one of the best places I've ever hiked. There are bluff trails that are physically demanding. All of the trails are visually pleasing. Sunset views from inspiration point are spectacular! You can see miles of the Walnut River Valley and the Arkansas River Valley. You can also hike all the way to the Arkansas River.

One of the most intriguing aspects, apart from the beautiful scenery and wonderful landscape, are the ruins of what was allegedly a scam from back in the mid-20th century when investors were solicited for a concrete plant. There are still ruins or relics if you please down in the river bottom with those concrete structures.

The trails are easily followed, meaning they are clear and you are not likely to get lost. There are also trails for mountain biking, but I have never ridden on them. Wide variety of trees and wildflowers during their appropriate seasons.

Strongly recommend insect repellent during the season, both for ticks and mosquitoes.

Our family came here to watch a proposal...she said yes! While there we were amazed to find a tarantula and scores of wasps. Don't let these hairy friends stop you from visiting though.

Camp Horizon is a beautiful place! I have been here many times for family reunions. My daughter just got back from her first week long camp and loved it. The counselors and staff were so nice to her when she got homesick.

Camp Horizon is a wonderful camp. The staff and counselors are always excited and positive role models for the kids. The cabins are nice and the ground are well kept. There is so much to do while you are there for all ages and interests. I highly recommend Camp Horizon for a summer camp or retreat experience.

Neat location. Trails need marked better but still fun. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Mountain bike trail is great. Challenging with lots of tech. Could use some jumps though.

Beautiful campground has wonderful facilities including cabins for campers, event spaces, pool, bounce pillow, ropes course, trails for hiking and mountain biking, and expansive views of the river and valley. The staff is exceptional and you will enjoy your time at Horizon!

My daughter and her friends attended Science Church Camp and had an absolute blast! The facility is beautiful, clean, and so much fun. The staff is AMAZING! They are so helpful and kind. The kids are very well supervised yet are given just enough independence that they feel like grownups away from home.

Our girls love Camp Horizon! They love the counselors and staff, the facilities and grounds, and all of the activities!

Very nice camp & facilities.
Our weekend reunion was made easy & enjoyable by the camp staff. Just be always on the lookout for copperheads. We had one come up at night near the meeting room and dorm rooms lying on the concrete for the warmth during the cooler night time.

My kids loved the day camp!!! They can't wait to go back. Kind helpful staff, fun games, and activities - beautiful surroundings.

Son went to middle school camp and gave it a 9 out of 10! Did at least three new activities he's never done, and got a lot out of the Q&A time with the pastor to ask faith questions and pastor confirmed all he was taught! The campus is beautiful and large so no crowding. plus, i mean mud pits and human foozball who wouldn't enjoy that!!

My children look forward to their week at Camp Horizon every summer! I too enjoyed the camp as a child and am so thankful it is has continued to grow over the years. What a wonderful place for kids to experience the love of Christ first hand! Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Camp Horizon for your dedication.

Had a wonderful stay at Inspiration Lodge. A beautiful cabin and great location for a family reunions. Plenty of fun activities to keep everyone occupied!

THIS IS A MUST EXPERIENCE FOR ALL AGES! THE STAFF, THE VIEWS AND THE FACILITIES ARE LIKE NOTHING IN THE REGION. THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PEACEFUL MOMENTS CONNECTING WITH OUR CREATOR ARE EVIDENT DURING EVERY VISIT! IT IS TRULY A SPECIAL PLACE! THE PROGRAMMING FOR KIDS IS TOP NOTCH AND THE SPACES FOR EVENT USE ARE SO REASONABLY PRICED YOU'LL WANT TO KEEP COMING BACK TIME AND TIME AGAIN!

Love, love, love this place! The staff are incredible and my kids have learned so much and made so many awesome memories at church camp over the years.

literally the best summer camp you could go to. like at the end of the week we were in a prayer circle and saying prayers and I NEVER cry but when we were saying our goodbyes i just started balling. I miss it so much, like I said best camp you could go to!

Both my children have attended camp here regularly and throughly enjoyed their experiences. It gives them an open and supportive environment to freely nurture their relationship with God.

My son always enjoys camp. He builds relationships and gets experiances with believers outside his "circle". He comes home with postivie experiances and FUN. Staff and facility are great. To God be the Glory.
