When I stop in for lunch I love to have their store made chicken salad on an everything bagel, with a latte. The service is always fantastic, and while I'm there I usually end up going home with a book. They have a good selection of books for such a small store, and their book recommendations are always enjoyable.

Super cute bookstore/cafe!! This is definitely one of my new favorite places. The atmosphere is relaxing, and perfect for browsing books. Downstairs is new books, and upstairs is used books, and there's something for everyone! Their food menu is limited, but tasty! And the prices are fantastic. Coffee was good, too.

Perfectly named, this little spot is a great place for tasty food and drinks, sitting down to read a book, and browsing the shelves for something new to read. Prices are fair and the staff are friendly and welcoming! I would definitely recommend the Reader's Cafe to anyone.

A very cozy and comfortable bookstore with a new and used selection. The new books on the first floor, and used books on the second.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about a variety of books, and are more than happy to give you recommendations.

Definitely a worthwhile stop and easily walkable from the square!

Definitely a hidden gem. Been there for coffee and breakfast. Prices are low and the drinks are great. Their Chai Tea is my favorite. Nice atmosphere it was an old church and still retains the structure. It is also a book store and usually end up picking up a book while I'm there. The staff there could not be more pleasant. Will be stopping by soon for lunch.

The perfect place to go when you're not in a hurry. I felt like I was relaxing in my study. Very cozy. I was surprised how delicious my sandwich was, too!

Went in for a local author book signing. Love the coziness of the store and the diversity of the books. Like the one read live today " Emily's Great Adventure", about subtle and gentle introduction to breastfeeding for children through play based education, by local author Samantha Callen.
The store owners are friendly, amazing frozen lottes and food choices from their menu.
This not so hidden gem of hanover is an amazing local shop we will be sure to visit again...and again.

Very friendly and helpful employees and a large selection of books. If they don't have it they will readily order it for you. Combine that with the charming old church building with cafe tables and delicious lunch menu and coffee and you have The Readers Cafe.

First time there - didn't get to try the food but it is a great place for sitting a bit and reading a book while you eat or drink a cup of tea. Great atmosphere.

I absolutely love this bookstore that doesn't have the sterility of the "big chain" stores. It is a very warm, inviting and cozy atmosphere with an ambience all it's own. I've been to many of the poetry readings they offer, among many other things.
If they don't have the book you're looking for, they will find and get it for you. My mom was trying to find a particular book on the Titanic this past Christmas for my nephew. Everywhere in the area she went, she came up empty. When she came to the Reader's Cafe, they went over all the selections they could order for her, and she ended up ordering two. They arrived in no time, and my nephew is still absolutely thrilled with them.
Add to that the friendly and helpful staff, delicious cafe food selections and excellent coffee, and you have what adds up to be a true hidden gem in this rapidly growing historic city.

My family visits this bookstore every time we see my grandparents. It's one of my favorite things to do in Hanover. I love getting a Chai latte and hanging out in the balcony with a new book. A beautiful, cozy, friendly place!

Great bookstore and cafe! People are nice and very helpful. They will order a book for you if they don't have any in stock. Also, check out all the used books! Everything from paperbacks to collector items. I just kept finding more books I "needed"!

Adorable cafe/bookstore. The woman working there was super helpful and gave great suggestions for different book series. They could get a lot more business if their book selection was more tailored to young adults but that's just my opinion. Will definitely be going back.

A wonderful coffee shop with great staff, a calm and welcoming atmosphere and great coffee. Like a smaller and more cozy Barnes and Noble with much better food and coffee. Food list is a little short but the Rosemary tuna and fantastic Maryland Crab soup make up for it. Don't miss it

Stumbled upon the local treasure on a recent trip. The cafe/bookstore is located in an old, historic church. New books for sale downstairs and used books for sale upstairs. Pretty big selection. Super nice customer service and conversation.
