Irv's Basement Bar

Kudos to all those people that put this together. He looks really good enjoyed my day enjoy the people enjoys Irv's energy. He just shared his energy with everybody there happy 100th birthday

We love Irv! An experience everyone should have!

Irv's is a treasure everyone should experience at least once. 14/10 would recommend!

I took my wife to Irv’s. She rarely drinks beer but wanted to visit a great part of Maryland history. There will never be another public basement bar. It was great to meet Irv and experience this small little dive bar.

My 100 year old Uncle Irvin owns and still runs this iconic bar. He keeps on going!

Pasadena celebrated his 100th birthday recently. Was a great celebration for him, lots of history in that basement bar.

Maryland's oldest continuous liquor license belongs to Irv's, and the mid-90 year old owner still slings drinks out of his basement. No food, strictly drinks, but there is a pool table and it is on the water. Good times & the ultimate dive bar.

Great to visit a place that is the last of it's kind. Visit as often as possible! Bring cash! These photos are evidence of a power outage at the time of our visit

Irv was an absolute gem. He said normally he is only open Wednesday-Saturday, but he welcomed us with open arms when his dog started barking at us as we approached on a Monday evening. He was very hospitable! We are in town on our honeymoon and he offered to open for a drink so we could say we visited. Absolutely recommend!

Been all over the world as a Merchant Marine and can't believe the #1 dive bar is in the town I moved too. This place place is a must visit!

This place is AWESOME! I stumbled upon this diamond in the rough, courtesy of Google maps and I'm so glad I did! Irving is 95 years young this year and he was so kind and quite funny! The ceiling is covered with over 500 bras and some other ladies underwear which is quite a site to see! A lovely man and a must see for anyone who loves a great dive bar and adventure. I am elated to offer my debut Google review.

Irv’s is the penultimate dive bar. What does it take to be a dive bar? Dimly lit? Check. Dirty? Check. Unspeakable bathrooms? Check. Weirdo regulars? Check.

What does Irv’s have for character? Irv. No kidding. He is a smiling happy gregarious generous man. Moves like lightning for 90+. Think about it. He’s always there. Tell a joke, laugh, and pass a brew. Irv is not only the man, he is badass.

You want more than a dingy basement? Irv’s got a bar. Pool table. Jukebox. Tables with chairs. Some of the chairs roll. Some are broken (or will break if you try to roll). His bar decorations are so thick it will make you dizzy before you’ve had too much to drink.

Speaking of decor, as legend goes, a gal once took off her bra and it ended up stuck on the ceiling. Now there are dozens, maybe hundreds of bras attached to the ceiling. I’m not sure because you have to count by 2. Unless you come across the panties. Yes, some gals pushed the envelope.

Irv’s does not have to pass health inspections because it’s the only basement bar liquor license in Anne Arundel County. There are no signs on the outside. This is his home and he lives upstairs. There are no hours posted. No websites. Just show up, and he will open the bar if you are the first customer of the day.

Check out Irv’s and you will not be disappointed. Remember to bring your party with you. Otherwise it’s just you and a 94 year old man. Which is still cool when you are drinking with Irv.

It is everyman’s dream to own a waterfront property with a namesake bar in your basement. People just come by to drink with you. Cheers, Irv! Your spirit is still invigorating. You are a master of life and your place is a harbor of happiness.
