Easily one of the best things about Ann Arbor. Great atmosphere, friendly but not overbearing staff (exactly what you want in a bookstore), good prices and a great selection of titles—you’ll always find something interesting to buy.

I was so happy to hear that the current owner decided to buy the place when the previous one decided to retire, instead of letting it close. I hope you have a long, happy and successful career with this gem of a bookshop.

This place is so wonderful!! I'm a youth literature afficionado (the result of working in a public library's youth department) and I was happy to find this shop has a sizeable youth collection. I even stumbled upon a Scholastic first edition of Princess Academy, which was one of my favorite books as a kid, so I immediately bought it because I love this version of the cover (it's the best edition IMO). Also, they have a Grogu poster from the American Library Association & the staff was super nice ☺

Collections of yesteryear. A place you can get lost in. Great selections of gently used and some still brand new and never even opened. It has that old print shop smell. Books in every nook and crevice, you're sure to find something. Wander through its wonderful shelves and let yourself go, let your mind wander.

One of the coolest bookshops around. It's a lot bigger than it looks at first glance, and they have all sorts of cool books including historical first editions and signed copies.

Love this bookshop. I sell and buy a lot. I can appreciate a bookstore where I always seem to find a new treasure. The staff is kind and courteous. They give a fair trade in price. Well worth the drive.

Love this store, I live in Lansing and every time I go anywhere near Ann Arbor, I have to stop in, staff is very friendly and helpful and their stock is massive, I always come away with some great reads, definitely worth checking out for bibliophiles and casual readers alike.

Huge selection of books from an expansive range of topics, genres, and categories. Only downside is that some books are placed in the wrong section sometimes. But the staff is great, very friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic used book shop! Great book organization and really cool decor. They had a fun surprise book pack for $15 with 3 books. Friendly and knowledgeable staff too!

What a hidden gem! I absolutely love this book store. It has so many books, from calculus help to Latin history. It even had recent popular books! I highly recommend if you are looking for books for school.

This place is great! Made me think of the Harry Potter wand ship but walls full of books! We found a few 1980 first print books there that my husband freaked about. We will be back!

Jammed packed with books. So many books. Books on books on books. The books per square inch is higher than any other place I've been too. Eminently cozy. Highly recommend.

A very cool store! Was super fun to explore, and I love all of the cool vintage decor. Me and my friend sat and looked at the art book section for ages.

OMG I love this place! Books, books and more books, at really great prices too. We try to stop in every time we are in town. Workers get a kick out of my excitement and check-ins on social media platforms (most of the time commenting "hey you checked in" when I check out.

A treasure trove of used books. A wonderful place to spend a rainy afternoon. Staff is knowledgeable and super helpful! As with other locations in downtown Ann Arbor, plan on paying for parking.

They are willing to help answer any questions you may have about books like how to tell if something is a first edition or if it is worth anything. And they are passionate about books!

This is one of those stores where when you first walk in, the smell of old books just hits you. You know, the scent of ancient leather, aged paper, and older printer ink. The smells that take you back to the days when libraries were for reading and learning. And then as you weave your way through the maze of shelves and stacks of books you know the hunt is ON! There are markers to give you a general idea of what you are looking for but the joy is in the search. And the reward is when you find that one, last, OOP novel that you have been searching for your ENTIRE life for and you found it!!! Plus, the price is exactly what you want to pay! The rush! The thrill! It is better than an amusement park!

If you are in Ann Arbor and you are looking for someplace to find a book - to read or collect or just to say "I own that!" - this is the place to go. And if you don't see it, just ask one of the staff. You may never know, they may have exactly what you are looking for without even knowing that was what you wanted. 😏

If you're getting tired of how clean and polished your local Barnes and Noble looks and instead want a bookstore that has the vibe of a crazied wizard's personal library, then this is the place for you. There's books on the floor, a confusing maze of shelves, awesome knickknacks and whatnots everywhere, dusty books that look a hundred years old, a very cool skylight, and a huge selection of obscure SF books from fifty years ago that few people have ever read. It's basically a fantasy book nerd's heaven. Possibly my favorite bookstore ever. Would recommend.

Part adventure, part shopping, part surprise at every turn. This labyrinthine twisting organized chaos called a used book store is a true gem in downtown Ann Arbor. Such a vast quantity and breadth of selection a single review would be unable to do it justice. Want to just get lost for an hour or so and be surprised with every next isle you turn down? Dawn Treader is a fun place to unplug and get back to old school books.

Exceptional inventory, exceptional owner. I had the privilege of meeting and chatting with Africa (the owner) and they couldn't have been more friendly and a delight to connect with.
