I have the privilege of being the site director of this clinic. Each year we train new dentists in advanced general dentistry to include dental implants. This clinic staff loves their patients and only has their best interest at heart. Our goal is to share hope and access to care to those less fortunate. The residents, faculty, and staff have the most compassion of anyone in the dental business. We are dedicated to ensuring our patients look their best and have the best care possible. If you have never been to visit our clinic, stop by sometime and we will be glad to give you a tour.

The staff at Appalachian Highland Dental is absolutely amazing. The kindness and empathy that they show is above and beyond. Dr Shaw and his assistant Jess, have changed my life. They are so knowledgeable, skilled, and they truly care about each patients needs and fears. I only wish I could have found them years ago. ❤ My sincere thanks!

I just finished having implants done, and although it has been a lengthy journey, I couldn't have asked for a better staff than those at this facility. Dr. Larson was extremely professional, empathetic, and skilled in his trade. His passion for his chosen field is quite evident. He took care of things down to the last detail. All of the staff from the front desk, to all of the aids participating in my treatment were very kind, professional, and accommodating.

Amazing clinic! They saw me for an emergency today and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Dr. Larson fixed my tooth in a timely manner with Justin assisting and they both were awesome! I felt no pain! Very thankful for them helping me feel better before the Christmas holiday! My appointment today completed the treatment plan AHCDC designed for me over a year ago. Dr Jalen Sykes had the task of finalizing my treatment and it was no walk in the park for him. There were problems with my teeth he had to solve but he took those challenges in stride and bounced back quickly. His resilience and dedication to honor his commitment to give me his best exceeded my expectations. Dr Sykes has given me a smile that looks amazing! I noticed his good dexterity skills while performing his procedures which greatly ensures the safety of his patients and the integrity of his profession.

I especially appreciated how he would often ask me if I was okay and not in any pain while performing his procedures. As he frequently reminded me, "I don't want you to feel like you have to be a hero." In other words, he doesn't want his patients to sit quietly and endure discomfort. He's very adamant about making sure his patients are comfortable and relaxed with no pain. What care and compassion he has for his patients!

He expressed to me how excited he is about the dentistry profession. It's clear he enjoys his work. The dental assistant who works with him, Rachel Jenks, is simply "golden". Her attention to even the smallest details and watching her juggle multiple tasks in the span of an hour was jaw dropping. It's obvious these two take their work very seriously and the mutual respect they seem to have for each other's contribution to providing a good experience for their patient reflects not only very positively on them but on AHCDC as a whole.

Even Dr Scott Miller, Clinic Director, involved himself in my dental procedure without hesitation to lend his guidance and support. This proves that AHCDC is a team sport. They take pride in doing everything they can to work as a team to make sure the needs of every patient are met and that every patient seen in the dental office are made aware they truly are important and will receive the best care regardless of who they are. In polite society I think we call that having real "class"! Keep up the fantastic work you're doing AHCDC and many, many thanks to my wonderful dentist, Dr Jalen Sykes. You rock sir 😎!

Had my wisdoms removed by Dr. larceny and Mariah. They were AMAZING the best extraction I've ever had and these people are always so nice! I highly recommend this place!

I am so thankful for all the staff from the front desk, Mariah and Dr. Ian Larson they have been so amazing.The front desk ladies, I didn’t get there names they take me in without any appointment same day. I have been dreading the dentist my entire life but today left me no choice since my bad tooth for months have a huge abscess with severe toothache I can’t sleep. Dr. Ian and Mariah have been so patient to me, even we have to pause a hundred of times since I was so scared. I feel ashame acting like a grown toddler panicking and scared lol. But they have been very patient and even extending there time to make sure I am taken care of. From the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you for helping me conquer my fear. And thank you for the best service and care y’all given me . :)

This dental office STILL does not disappoint! I was so nervous about my appointment today. Mariah, the dental assistant was super awesome and calming. The dentist, Dr. Larson actually listened and came up with a new treatment plan, also. Today could not have went better.

This dental office has went above and beyond in the few appointments I've had so far with them. Everyone is so friendly. Not only do they do amazing work, they are very accommodating, too. One appointment I had was for a root canal. On my way to the office, I received a call that I needed to get my almost 2-year-old from daycare due to short-staffing. I took him with me. I didn't know what else to do. I needed my tooth fixed, but I had no one else to watch him. At first, I thought they would tell me to reschedule. However, they instead continued on with my appointment. It was quite difficult. But this office was extremely understanding.

If you want a great group of people to do your dental work of any kind then this is the place for you. They actually care about keeping or giving you a smile if you haven't had one . Truly amazing!

I am so thankful I found this place. A 5 star rating doesn’t do them justice; I wish I could give more. From the front desk to the dentists in the back, you are greeted with nothing but respect and kindness. I had been hunting for years (no exaggeration) for someone who would both, accept my insurance and accept new patients. Not only did they accept me, they have exceeded my expectations in every aspect. They brought me in to be seen as soon as possible, they called to confirm, they showed kindness and showed a willingness to answer any question i may have had. Scheduling and arriving has never been easier for me. I can’t speak enough about Dr. Luo and the assistants. They have done nothing but strive to make sure I’m comfortable and informed. I walked away feeling confident that I had lucked out and found the perfect dental office. Dr. Luo has remained so patient with me and is always so polite and funny!!! They are down to earth and people that know their stuff!!! I had all my top teeth extracted and same day dentures put in. He walked me through the entire game plan step by step, explaining every detail, and considered and addressed every single concern. I have never felt this comfortable at a dentist office before! The procedure went amazing and even the dentist himself, Dr. Luo has continued to call and check up on me to this very day making sure there wasn’t any complications. They have made themselves available in every stage of this journey for me and I can’t praise them enough. I simply can’t thank them enough. They have given me my smile back, my confidence back, and I no longer fear going to the dentist. I NEVER leave reviews. EVER. But this office has given me no other choice! People need to know how different and dream like this place is. I am forever thankful!!!!! Make an appointment here!!!! You won’t regret it!!!

I absolutely love this place. Everyone is so nice and willing to help in any way possible. Definitely recommend.

Had an extraction done on an abscessed wisdom tooth. They took me back almost instantly even though I was a new patient and once the process begun it barely took 15 minutes thanks to their very dedicated and friendly staff. Couldn’t say thanks or recommend them enough, seriously great rates when you don’t have insurance. Feels like I can go to the dentist and have serious work done without going into debt, couldn’t praise them enough!!!

Finding Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center & Dr. Covey was nothing short of a miracle! Everyone at this facility was amazing. To say I'm terrified of the dentist is an understatement. I needed 3 teeth surgically removed but wanted to be completely knocked out. Unfortunately that wasn't an option, but Dr. Covey made my visit the next best thing! I didn't feel a thing! Him and his assistant were very understanding and answered all questions, explained in detail, very gentle, and didn't mind to pause if I just needed to breathe. I absolutely can not give enough praise to this group!!! Recommend 10/10!!

I love how the office has Godly decor. I was treated beyond my expectations! Every single person there was kind and compassionate. They were very attentive to my pain and got to the root of my problem. If i could give them a hundred stars i would!

More stars needed to give this review. Most of all, they care about you, seeing you smile again, and enjoying your favorite foods. They all take pride and care in all they do. Dr. Tony did all the work on my aging teeth. They look beautiful, and I enjoy eating and smiling again. Here it's about making one feel better in many ways. God Bless them all. D.J.B

I called dozen of places had no appointments because she had the wrong insurance and a abseese tooth that's absolutely killing her she is my daghter in law and every place I called either didn't take her insurance or they had nothing for months. They are getting her in this morning what a wonderful place. And thanks to Ms Ellen she is the best

I’ve never had a problem going to the dentist I usually fall asleep lol but Ive been a nurse for 12 years and never had any complaints of being rude to patients. I’ve not seen not one rude staff member at this office, everyone is very kind and helpful Thanks!!

I have nothing but praise for the friendly, competent staff who made me feel well cared for even staying late to give me excellent care and the welcoming atmosphere created by all of the Angels that day:)
