Flour on First

A lovely, little bake shop with delicious and delightful offerings. I brought home bagged chocolate chip cookies, a roasted chick pea salad, and some (gluten free!) coconut and chocolate bites. I was told they create (gluten free) macaroons on Saturday. I'll have to stop back then to give them a try!
Returned on April 12, 2023 and enjoyed a delightful salad and quiche! (And more coconut and chocolate bites!!)

First bit of advice. GET THERE EARLY!! Opens at 8:30 am. Only 1 blueberry muffin and 4 brioche left. We basically cleaned them out, vowing not to sleep in next time we're in Atlantic Highlands.
The cinnamon rolls were the best we have ever had. No wonder they close at 2:30 pm, nothing left to sell!

Flour on First has been our favorite bakery for many years...their cakes, pies and all other treats have been part of our holiday celebrations as a staple. So when Ryan and I got engaged, there was no question as to where we were ordering our wedding cake. We decided to go with two cakes, a HIS and HERS and it could not have been more perfect! They even used the same font from our invitations to write on the cakes...WOW. Jessie always takes such good care of us whether at the bakery or over the phone. Her customer service makes us feel part of the Flour on First family. We'll be back, as we always do, on the weekends for all the yumminess this magnificent bakery has to offer. Thank you!

The creations taste even better than they look - and each piece is a work of art / sculpture (follow Insta page). Cakes, cookies, tarts, holiday items and more: you can tell they use top tier ingredients and take pride in what they do. Photos attached are the Yule Log cake - check out the details like meringue mushrooms, candied cherry berries, buttercream holly, etc - and cookies (choc chip and nutty shortbread are too good to share). Also, Jesse who manages the counter is fantastic and ensures you leave with something that will please.

If you live in NYC, this place wins over any posh bakery downtown; it’s a five minute walk from Atlantic Highlands ferry terminal. You will be a hero importing treats back to NYC!

PS, their salads and frittatas for lunch are a family fave, too. Highest recommendation possible!!!!

Absolutely amazing. Everything freshly made. Staff are so friendly. This has become a weekly visit to get delicious treats. Brownies and jam donuts are very tasty. Highly recommended.

Flour on First was highly recommended by many, and on this gorgeous day I visited. It was a few minutes before closing and when I turned to go they invited me inside. I'm so appreciative of their kindness! They were so nice and told me about each item that is perfection. I've been desensitized to flavor and quality by going to other "bakeries" this is on a different level entirely!

Great friendly service, with excellent looking and tasting deserts! The coconut chocolate covered mini’s are delicious, along with the mini cupcakes! Will return for sure.

An outstanding bakery! The gorgeous attention to detail and delicious ingredients make for divine sweet and savory selections at Flour on First. They make the best carrot cake hands down that I've ever had. If you're in the area I highly recommend you stop in. If your not in the area it's a bakery worth taking a trip to. I can not express enough how incredible this bakery is! By far the BEST BAKERY in not only Atlantic Highlands, but all of Monmouth County as well.
The owner/chef Laura is an absolute master at her craft.
Aside from the most delicious breakfast pastries, specialty desserts, and holiday themed cakes, she makes the most amazing custom drip cakes that look so good you don’t want to cut it open to ruin the artwork...but trust me, it is worth it!
They also serve delicious local coffee that is the perfect addition to each and any of the delicious pastries.

I received the Valentine’s Day Box from my husband which he purchased ahead of time at Flour on First and wow it was amazing ! The passion fruit macarons were unique and sublime - you don’t see much passion fruit in the Bayshore area so it was a happy surprise for this Puerto Rican. I saved the macaroons for last because I thought it would be a regular macaroon, but I was SO wrong. This macaroon had chocolate mousse on top of it with a crackly chocolate shell, like what ?! It was truly special.

My husband had also purchased my mom’s birthday carrot cake from this unique bakery too. I will go on record saying it was the best carrot cake I have ever had. They also took the time to write “Happy Birthday [Name]” with care and expertise on the cake - best decorating I’ve see in the area and I’ve lived around for 30 years.

I am so excited to get more goodies in the AM!! Highly excited about some cookies, coffee cake, and brioche.

This was our 2nd special occassion cake from the rock star bakers at Flour on First this year. They are now our official family bakery.

This was a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and fresh raspberries.

Great bakery with excellent cakes and great prices! We ordered a simple large birthday cake that became the party highlight of the party! I’ll definitely be ordering again.

The peanut butter sandwich cookies are simply divine and it's the best coconut cake I've ever had. I don't think I'll ever bake for myself again!
