A wonderful tasting experience.Group loved it! The wine maker did our tasting which made it extra special. I purchased a super cute long sleeve tshirt and some really good blueberry wine. All fruit wines made from local sources.A definite return trip here for me!

We had a great time today. The tasting was worth the $5. The gentleman who did ours let us know about each wine, and offered not only food pairings but also suggestions on how to use a few in recipes. We went home with a few bottles and each had a glass of wine on one of the decks that wrap the building. We really enjoyed relaxing while being nearly in the treetops.
**If you come from the north, the turn into the drive is a very sharp turn that comes up on you very quickly.

Soothing simple words can have the greatest significance and Pomona Winery gives a great illusion of that. What they don't say while reading the front cover is that the richness and complexity of their staff, their winery, and their product, creates angelic stirrings of beauty that is both delicious and grounding.

My trip into the rolling rocks of Holy Boulders and Giant City had become perfection after doing a tasting here. It was explained elegantly by our host and we left with 3 bottles of beautiful apple wine.

There isn't anything quite like this. I will be visiting again every year.

We had the best wine tasting of all of the vineyards we went to. George told us about each wine and the foods they would go best with. We bought a case for future enjoyment! Gorgeous deck outside.

You kind of have to accept what your getting into here. The wine is fruit wine, and it's actually better than most all grape wines on the trail for what it is, so don't let that keep you away. The apple wines are delicious. The blueberry wine is delicious. The Kir is delicious. We first visited soon after their opening when the tasting room was in the basement with a few stools and a very old refrigerator. We still come by occasionally after over 23 years. George never remembers us or he's off hiking, but that's okay because his staff is always super friendly, he's still super excited about his wine, and they still taste great.

We really enjoyed our time here. The owner was so inviting and knowledgable regarding food pairings during our tasting. Great prices for both tasting and bottles we took home. Definitely worth a visit while in Southern Illinois!

Beautiful winery. Our host George was a delight and explained each of the wines and appropriate food pairings through our tasting. We then enjoyed a bottle of our choice on their deck.

We really enjoyed Pomona Winery!

Due to Covid, no tastings or flights were offered, but the very knowledgeable woman (owner?) made a suggestion that we loved!

We loved sitting on the porch, it felt like we were in a treehouse, what gorgeous grounds!

She sealed up our the rest of our bottle of wine so we could take it to go.

Really appreciated letting our dog play frisbee on the front lawn, she was in heaven!

This winery makes their wine with fruit other than grapes. Some of them taste like grapes anyway! Unique wines and flavors. Loved their strawberry dessert wine!

My absolute favorite winery. It is unique because they have non-grape, mostly apple wines, so do note that the wines are sweeter. So delicious! It is in a beautiful woodsy location in a cabin-like building, so is also unique in that aspect. It has a nice, quiet and calm atmosphere. I definitely recommend trying here if you haven'y already. Also, definitely do their wine sampling!

We had a wine tasting. None the wines are made with grapes, infact most are made from apples. The server was awesome. He really knew his stuff. The grounds are forested and quite lovely.

We had the most educational wine tasting experience of our lives from the wonderful owner George. He provided notes on the wide range of flavors that our pallets would be experiencing with each wine, as well as, in depth ways to pair a full meal around each wine. Complete recipes are found on their website and facebook page and will be heavily utilized in our near future. The setting was nothing short of tranquility with their private and secluded setting in the woods of the Shawnee National Forest. The completely wooden structure of the wine tasting room was hand built by George from reclaimed lumber and also serves as their home. It shows the great care to detail they take that is also seen in each of their wines. We will definitely be back for more wine and great experiences. Be sure to make this a stop on your Southern Illinois Wine Trail Adventures.

We had a great time at this winery! Becky was a lovely host during our tasting and shared a lot of great information about each wine they make. We couldn't have asked for better service and left with two bottles of our favorite wines. You should definitely check out this location if you're in the area.

Really enjoyable selection of non-grape wines. It was one of the first wineries I've been to where I liked every wine we tasted. The bartender was really knowledgeable about each wine and its flavors, pairings, and origin. Nice tasting room, too, with tons information about the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

This winery was our first stop during a day of exploring the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, and it ended up being one of our favorites. The staff providing the tastings were by far the most helpful and informative out of everywhere we went. The tasting was a great deal- $5 for 9 wines! We loved the unique nature of this winery and thought many of their apple wines were delicious. We decided to buy a bottle of their spiced apple dessert wine and can't wait to open it at Christmas for a lovely breakfast treat (as recommended by one of the staff members)!

By far the best winery on the Shawnee trail. I had done the wine trail several years ago and remembered thoroughly enjoying this winery the most. I brought my parents and siblings along this time and made sure to take them to Pomona first. It was exactly as great as I remembered. They serve non-grape wines. The majority are made from apples and they are all incredible. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. They describe their wines in detail during the tasting and recommend food pairings. They also provide a list of stores where you can purchase their wines in your area. This is the most informative and serene winery that you will visit. You can tell they put great care into their jobs.

Easily our favorite winery on the wine trail. They have exceptional non-grape wines. I'd say they all run a tad sweet so if you're looking for a truly dry fruit wine you may be slightly disappointed. However, we find all of the wines on the list to be delicious. For most, your experience will not be at all disappointing! The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming. We have been back many times, and it's always a treat.

We loved our tasting experience. I am not a sweet wine person, but the wines here are interesting, subtle, and high quality. Additionally, our server was the wine maker herself, and she was friendly and knowledgable. Definitely recommend this winery. The Strawberry Dessert wine is amazing.

Best apple and dessert wines in the universe. Orchard Spice is like a delightful glass of Mom's apple pie.
