Michael Walker is a master guitar luthier that we are lucky to have in Humboldt County. I have complete confidence in his ability to repair any issue on my guitars. I’ve sent many of my students his way for repairs and setups and they have all come back with great playing instruments. I believe his intense dedication to guitar building has turned him into one of the best guitar techs we have, if not the best. He also has a great turn around time, and has always worked with me to accommodate my schedule.

I have had Michael do work on two of my acoustic guitars. I have some experience with guitar repair shops, as I played professionally down in LA for years, and when there, had lots of work done on my acoustic and electric guitars from a number of different shops. Michael has always done great work, and been very responsive. He is absolutely among the best, and we are very fortunate to have him here.

M. Walker is easy to work with. He does excellent repair and set up work and is a fine custom builder. He added a pick -up to my mid-thirties Epiphone Triumph much to my pleasure. I have always been an acoustic player and he made this guitar work for me. I am more comfortable with it than I imagined I would be. He has given me options when I was unsure of what wanted. The fret job he did on my HD-28 Martin came out just right. Michael is very straight forward. I am so glad he is available in our area. It's a big plus that he is a fine player himself and really cares about the music he plays and the work he does.

As a working musician, I need to keep my instruments in good working order, and I'm grateful he is nearby meet my maintenance and repair needs. Michael does high quality work for me in a timely fashion, essential when there is a gig approaching. On visits where he replaced a nut for me, did neck adjustments to improve action and intonation, I would pick a bit with his Walker guitars hanging on the wall for sale. I would've been happy buying one off the shelf, but I decided to take the full plunge. I am the proud and excited owner of a custom built Michael Walker guitar. The dreadnot acoustic 6 string with spruce top, mahogany body, and custom inlay he built for me is an incredible sounding, beautiful instrument. Michael is a very talented luthier. I was very happy with the work he did on an old D-28 of mine. The neck had a horrible bow plus It needed to be reset. It was unplayable. Micheal brought it back to life.

Michael is the only one you should take your instruments to get worked on and tuned up. He learned under the great luthier Randy Wood and is the premier instrument repair luthier in the area, especially acoustic instruments. He’s put new frets and dressed then once so far and his work is impeccable.

I picked up a ‘91 PRS CE-1 several years ago at an Oakland CA flea market. It needed some love- needed a fret job as well, which I didn’t get around to taking care of until I moved to Eureka recently. That is when I found out about Michael Walker. He did an excellent job- guitar plays and sounds 100 times better. I can’t thank him enough- highly recommended!
