We were lucky that we found this lovely place on google map. This is the authentic local food experience we always wanted whilst travelling abroad. Possibly the best food we had in Albania. We visited twice in two days and every time we visited the restaurant always had some locals eating soup. We’ve tried three different types of soup , they are different from what we normally have in England but all taste good, jurvallaqa soup (meatball soup)is our favourite. And don’t miss out the meatball casserole, which is our favourite dish, so juicy and flavoursome.
Price is very very affordable, staffs don’t speak English but are friendly. Highly recommended.

An absolute hidden gem in Gjirokaster! We (3 tourists) decided to try this place for breakfast - ordering 3 soups (chicken, beef, and meatball) and 3 other side dishes (spinach with egg, grilled vegetable salad, and mixed vegetables), which were very hearty and filling for a breakfast meal. The locals often go there to sip on some soup and bread for breakfast so the soups are a definite must try. The overall cost was extremely affordable for us who came from Western Europe.

It was so good we decided to come back again for an early dinner, this time ordering 7 dishes: the grilled vegetables, fried yellow cheese, offal soup (pace plenci), Tave Kosi, Tave Qofte, Pancete Deri, and Moussaka - needless to say, all the food was amazing and extremely affordable. The wine was very good, and they served us 2 loaves of bread for 3 people, even with complimentary Tzatziki sauce and some really sweet oranges to finish off as a dessert.

The service was incredibly friendly towards tourists. Even if they did not understand English, they did their best to make us feel comfortable and right at home, and we managed to communicate just fine - an underrated definite must-try for those who come to Gjirokaster.

Hidden gem in the middle of Gjirokaster. The quality of the dishes here are top notch, while having very affordable prices, the (comparatively) sweetest service, and an old school 70's restaurant ambience.

The moussaka and meatball casserole was only 250 lek each - a steal compared to those restaurants further up charging 500 each.

Highly recommend you go to this Diamond in the rough of a family-run restaurant in Gjirokaster.

A hidden gem of a family restaurant in Gjirokaster! The food is tasty and affordable (much much cheaper than restaurants in the tourist districts), and the vibe is casual. We especially loved their tavë kosi and grilled vegetables. Super friendly service as well, bringing us bread, water, and even some xaxiqi and oranges at the end while we were just chatting, which truly made our day.

The menu has English translations, although the staff spoke no English. We went twice during our time in Gjirokaster, and highly recommend it to anyone travelling here!

The owners are super super friendly and made us feel very welcome here. The food came out quickly and everything we ate was delicious and fresh. The prices were very low which is what we were looking for. Great service, friendly, amazing food and best prices! Meat, salad, veggie dishes, beans, everything! Don't miss it!

Amazingly good food and affordable. Owner is very kind and accommodating for ordering even without English. All three dishes we tried were high quality and delicious. Don’t waste your time on overpriced spots in the Old Town. Go here!

This must be the best restaurant here. Surprisingly, it has been 30 years here. The owner is very cute grandpa.and the price is almost the same as the menu three years ago. If you miss here, it must be the most regrettable.

Everyone was so lovely as soon as we entered this beautiful restaurant. They speak limited English but are very accommodating, kind and welcoming. The menu is half English as well which is great. We had the Moussaka (mouth watering good) and the meatballs were also delicious. Complimentary fresh bread to sweep up all those delicious leftover sauces too. The prices are very good and make the food amazing value for money. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try traditional food!

Such a local restaurant! We were the only foreigners, but the staff really tried to understand us / English. I recommend the sallatë fshati, supe Jovardhaqe, and the tave me qofte!!

Lovely older group with a shop in side street. Went in and ordered some food while waiting for money exchange to open in afternoon. I was confused so they offered some advice. Food came out and it was plenty full from soup, salad and to mains. With a few beers it was so cheap compared to the old bazaar district. You definately have to try it.👍

I wanted to visit a restaurant that locals attend and S&P provided. When we entered, the smell (cigarettes from outside), overall look were kind of offputting but I just knew we were in a right place. We ordered in international language - by pointing finger at the menu. The owner was very welcoming and the food was incredible. We spent 1250 lek (around €11) total for 2 soups, two main dishes, fries and 2 pepsis. Left absolutely stuffed and had to rest before we went on our way.

At the end, when the owner asked where we were from (Poland) it appeared that he speaks basic Russian. I don't believe he thought we speak it in our country but rather he thought we might be learning it at school. We do and we could have a little chat which I loved.

Would totally recommend - skip the fancy restaurants and visit this place
