Gaucho State

This tour exceeded our expectations! Diego was very accommodating letting us change our tour for dinner to lunch. We ended up being only our group and had the most magical experience Horsebackriding the Alpes mountains. An un unforgettable experience! After 2 hours we returned to have a delicious bbq lunch with red wine. Next time in Mendoza we will do this tour again!

This tour exceeded our expectations. I had never ridden a horse and I was scared at first, but the guides were lovely and explained us how to do it. At the end I felt like an expert. Then the dinner was fantastic, lots of food and wine. After we sang song around the fire. Congratulations to the owner Diego for putting together such a lovely experience.

We did the sunset ride which cost US$80 per person. They provide a pickup service which is good because it's about a 45-minute drive from central Mendoza. Our group size was about 15 people. About half had some prior horse-riding experience. When we arrived at the ranch, the lead gaucho explained how to handle the horse to ensure an enjoyable and safe ride. The track we followed is a dry riverbed in a valley. It's mostly flat. After riding for an hour, we had a quick break, took some pics and returned the same way to the starting point.

The BBQ dinner was one sausage, two pieces of steak, bread and some tomato salad. After dinner, we sat around a fire drinking wine while one of the gauchos played guitar and sang some songs.

If you haven't ridden a horse before then it's probably worthwhile but if you expect to be riding along mountain trails, you may be disappointed.
