Gasthof Hunerkogel

We were larger group of 11 people. Very nice pension, clean rooms. Fantastic approach of owners, giving feeling anything is possible - change dinner, earlier breakfast, taking us by car to the valley. Breath taking views fully compensate the fact that you must travel a bit if you want to ski - yet skibus stop is few meters from the hotel. Great stay, thanks.

Imagine having a room that opens up to a fabulous view of the mountains you plan to climb! This is exactly what we experienced during our stay in Gasthof Hunerkogel, in September: We were welcomed exceptionally friendly! We had great dinner and breakfast with the view of Hoher Dachstein. And after our climbing trip via the Steinerweg route, we could have a perfect rest in the clean and comfy rooms.
In short: Rooms and bathroom are perfectly clean and functional. Meals are yummy! Wifi works smoothly! Walking to the mountain hut takes just 30 minutes. (About max. 3 hours to the bottom of the south wall of Dachstein). And last but not least, Mrs. Tanya is one of the most warm and friendly host I have ever seen! STRONGLY Recommended!

Stayed here during our Dachstein Sudwand climb in September, and I think this place is a lot better than the Sudwand Hütte for rope parties. The distance between is just 30 mins and does not make any sense. On the contrary, in Gasthof Hunerkogel, you get the best hospitality and comfort I have ever seen for a long time. Frau Tanya is an amazing host. I can recommend it undoubtedly!

The hotel is located directly below the Dachstein Mountain. The cable car is just 2 minutes away. The surroundings are breathtaking and ideal as a starting point for your hikes.

The room offered plenty of space and all the necessary equipment for the stay. Great balcony with mountain view. Clean and spacious bathroom.

The owner is one of the best I have had the opportunity to met. He is very helpfull in every matter that comes to mind. All our requirements were met and all questions answered.

We had half board and I must say that most of the meals were delicious. Great portions!!

We had a very pleasant stay at family run Gasthof Hunerkogel. The lady of the house is very friendly. The room was clean, the bathroom adequate with an excellent shower. We also had breakfast and dinner here, which was all tasty and nice. And the location is special, with spectacular views on the Dachstein mountain, and the cable car to the top of the mountain and the glacier at your door step. Also, several great hiking trails start here. Good to know is that access to the cable car is included in the hotel price if you stay for at least two nights, which makes this an excellent deal (normally, the cable car costs 40 euros pp).

I've stayed here twice and the best thing was the warm welcome and family atmosphere. Don't get mistaken by all the people who head towards the Dachstein gondoly - just some 100 meters and you are alone on high altitude alpine paths.

Beautiful cozy place to stay while visiting the Dachstein glachier- sky walk. Family atmosphere and delicious kitchen. Clean tidy rooms and delicious breakfast. The owners are very friendly and welcoming.

Super Hotel und Restaurant mit freundlicher Bedienung.
Haben uns auch ein früehes Frühstück ermöglicht, so dass wir zeitig auf unsere nächste Skitour los konnten und uns auch bei unseren Leiden der vergangennen Touren geholfen.

Sehr gutes Essen zu angemessenen Preisen. Personal stets freundlich. Eis gibt es frisch von der Theke.
Lage ist sehr gut direkt bei der Talstation und in der Nähe der zahlreichen Souvenir-Shops.

Alles in allem eine sehr gute Alternative zum vergleichsweise teurem Gipfelrestaurant.

Morgens die Augen zu öffnen, und direkt als erstes den Dachstein zu sehen ist das Beste, was ich bisher erleben durfte. Ich hab mich soo wohl im Gasthof gefühlt. Egal ob es um die Zimmer, das Essen oder das Personal ging, alles war absolut zum Wohlfühlen. Immer wieder gerne <3

100% Weiterempfehlung, haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! 👍

Nachm Dachstein lieber hier einkehren, als oben im stressigen Gipfelrestaurant. Leckere Getränke und Speisen, komme wieder. Netter Pächter bzw. Besitzer des Gasthofes.
