1965 Lobethal

Wild weather raged outside, but we were warm and cosy in our own super comfortable private time warp back to the 60's. Impeccably curated furnishings, well equipped kitchen, lux bathroom and bedroom, a great collection of classic vinyl (who knew Glen Campbell made so many records!), and even a guitar to strum if the mood takes you.
A great central location with restaurants, cafes, quirky shops, supermarket and of course the Lobethal Bierhaus, all within easy walking distance. Our hosts were also happy to share their knowledge of local attractions including some of the excellent nearby wineries (Tagai and Cobb's Hill Estate, to name a couple of our latest discoveries) which we can now add to our growing list of Hills favourites.

A 6 star retro dream experience!! For someone who grew up in the 60s and 70s, Kim and Sam's place is retro heaven! I was bopping to my favorite songs on the very cool record player while also appreciating the tasteful decor, comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen, rainfall shower and birdsong outside. It would be better to book a month's stay rather than a few days as it's a place to sink into and really appreciate, including walks to local cafes and culture. Kim and Sam were generous and thoughtful in every way and I highly recommend their place to anyone seeking a quiet, stunning, and brilliantly conceived retro experience. Once you've experienced it, you'll want to keep returning!!

A spacious and comfortable B&B which has been decked out in 1960’s style with immaculate attention to detail by owners Sam & Kim. The towels are soft, the bed is super comfy and the place is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well set up with lovely retro crockery and enough utensils to cook a meal. Some fresh local produce was provided by Sam & Kim for breakfast which was much appreciated. There is a lounge to relax while you spin some vinyl on the record player, a dining room, and a nice sunny patio out the back. The location is perfect on the Main Street of Lobethal, a short walk to all that Lobethal has to offer including Emma & Ivy Cafe and the Lobethal Bierhaus, and there are lots of great wineries and the excellent Applewood Distillery just a short drive away.
