They're not a waste of tax payers money as someone said. They're not even tax payer funded! They're totally reliant on annual fees paid by lawyers to fund operations/salaries and have been for many years, I think since the Barnett govt and Christian Porter days? Talk about a conflict of interest. No wonder they turn complainants away. Every complaint is a threat to job security of the director and employees - a threat to 'business as usual'! Out of interest, check out the legal board of Tasmania website for a real legal board, properly funded by state govt, properly protecting the public. It's shameful what we have here in WA by comparison.
The WA government needs to do something about this place. Start by properly funding it to perform its statutory duties. Weed out the self-interested forces from top down. Regulate the regulators. Stop them from making a mockery of uniform law and ignoring decisions in Courts across Australia. Get ethical culture thriving at the Board and let it flow state-wise from there. Stop the hit and miss approach. Occasional parading of individual lawyers in stocks to make it look like they're doing their job. Going after one lawyer hard, but not another . What is their criteria for who they go after? Some of the high profile cases over the years leave me scratching my head. What is the real purpose of the Board? If they exist to protect the public, then for crying out loud get some FAQ sheets up for the public at the website like every other state board. Call for IT assistance and get the website basically functional, so search actually returns a result.
Contacting the legal board shouldn't leave a person with a feeling that they're dealing with a corrupt enemy force accountable to no one. What is that?!

Instead of genuinely dealing with complaints, they seem more eager to make things difficult for complainants, shield their lawyers even if they are clearly negligent and fraudulent. Closing the complaint without actually dealing with it seems to be the clear objective and motive. This institution should be removed or have all their staff replaced.

One of the ‘representatives’ told me that I have no rights as a beneficiary and that the executor has unlimited timeframes to resolve an estate and if it takes 10 years, then that’s what it takes!!!! I CALL THAT WRONG LEGAL ADVICE! This person has a HR degree, yet she felt compelled to keep providing her ‘legal’ opinion! This department needs to be seriously looked at so why isn’t it? Surely the 1.4 out of 5 stars should raise alarm bells!

The Legal Practice Board exists solely to protect legal practitioners against complaints from the public. Even stark evidence in writing provided to the LPB is ignored and excuses are made on behalf of the lawyer concerned. In the end they just close the case after advising that their decision is final. They are a complete waste of taxpayers money. Added to that, there is nobody one can complain to about them. Zero stars should be an option.

This review pertains solely to the website, not the LPB as a body or its staff. With that clearly stated, this 'new' website is very poor quality. At least the old one worked, after a fashion. This one has so many coding flaws, errors and obvious quality deficiencies I don't know where to begin. I would suggest an independent expert be asked to review and report. In 2024, far, far more can be expected.

Need a full overhaul or shut down as a taxpayer and rely of a government agency to keep all lawyers following the law by the book. Have complained about lawyers ripping off clients and over charged for thing that they havernt even done. Even when sent the transcripts of the court hearings and proving that the judge for 5 adjournments and quoted what the lawyers needed to file and still charged full amount for court session. So the LPB read and still said that they couldn't fault the lawyers. Black and white LPB. Do your job or get out. Full investigation on your services. If there was a negative star would have chosen that. Very disappointing waste of time and effort!!!!!!!

This institution should be removed and have a new body reconstituted. One that will actually uphold the standards of the legal practitioners.

The LPB are hopeless & should be disbanded with the WA government needing to install a competent & effective organization in its place. The LPB are a disgrace as are their employees especially the senior investigator! I am truly concerned about the objectivity of the investigator and would highly recommend others to be concerned too. The WA government should instigate an inspection to ensure that the activities of the LPB are above board rather than under the table !

I am truly shocked by this place and staff, what a total disgrace and waste of time. LPB is being payed tax payers money to do absolutely nothing at all. I really cannot see the point to keeping this agency. This is the very reason why there is so much corruption with lawyers. If their was a zero star or negative zero star I would have choose that.

The LPBWA needs to be subject to a full review. Practitioners are unlikely to speak up in fear of reprisal. The Attorney General ought to step in, sack the Board and Executive and establish a new governing body that has some accountability. Both legal practitioners and the public alike have no confidence in this body.

These people are completely incompetent and I've busted them and Slater Gordon lying. Their claim is in writing I was taxed over 65k in insurance payout, not according to my tax return though. I've now reporting the scandal along with all the evidence to the tax department along with the formal comp that the department of communities set up a bank account under my name and put stolen money in it . This organisation is as corrupt as The government and Slater Gordon themselves

Arrogant and self serving. Not genuinely interested in dealing with complaints. Will bend over backwards to find a way to not deal with lawyer conduct issues.

May as well be a kangaroo court. Should be disbanded for all the value it adds. Absolutely pointless body

I feel for the public in Perth as they seem to be met with the same unregulated legal system as we here in Victoria are.
I advise all family law litigants not to use lawyers until someone stands up to them and enforces regulation upon them. I had a large portion of the asset pool blatantly stolen by lawyers and the regulators are coving it up.

The Legal Practices Board and LPCC didn't address my complaint, yet did everything to ignore and be evasive to the issue raised by means of addressing events not relevant to my complaint, and quickly dismissed the issue.

How can conduct like this justify the existence of such a board and committee, and how is this seen to provide any service or assistance to the public that fund their salaries?

If you want to make people who call you feel important, you need to do more than say "your call is very important to us" in the on hold message, before saying "no one is available at this time".
