Payment was never late, lots of hours, accommodation is very basic, a bit mouldy in the room, but the rent is cheap. They also allow camper-van to camp on the site and have access to the facilities. Huge kitchen, walk-in fridge to store groceries. Only when the season got busy i found the accommodation was a a bit chaotic.
Very strict with lazy workers, but very fair with normal workers. Job was easy but boring and repetitive, be ready if you want this job.
They provide transport to IGA twice a week if you don’t have your own vehicle. You have to clean the camp yourself once a week, but they provide everything you need at the camp, dish washing liquid, sponges, toilet paper, laundry powder. they provide sunscreen, ice water and gloves at work, supervisor Isak would be very nice or very strict to you depends on if you’re responsible.

I did picking of melons for 1 month and half. The accommodation is very nice and clean, big kitchen, they provide all of you need and they offer some vegetables from the farms every week!
The job is easy, the supervisor Isak is very nice if you work well.
Good payment and never late
You have IGA at 5 minutes and you can use farm's van for go it every Monday and Thursday
And you have also Colses at 20 minutes
We have passed a good time in this farm!
Thanks for all Melissa !

Me and my friend spent 3 months on Capogreco farm and we really spent good moment.
There is a big kitchen , huge fridge , toilet and shower are fine.
We had a room just for us.
You can find your space and stay chill or spend time with the amazing people that we met.
Good place to save money but very close to Perth or other nice town..so in the weekend you can take a break and enjoy in the city, on the beach or on the lake..whatever you want.
The work it's fine as well, not so hard.
You can pick the melon or packing them .
The nicest thing it's work with a team.

I’ve been working there for almost 4 months and it was a really lovely experience!
Picking and packing experience and really good hours in high season.
My personal experience in this farm has been unforgettable! I had a really good time in those fields😊
The owners were really friendly and kind with me and I met some really amazing people.
You’ll be sharing a room with just another person.
There is a grocery really close to the farm (10min by car), and a nice lake as well (where you can relax in your days off).
I do recommend this place if you’re looking to do your 88days.

I worked in the farm for a bit more than a month with a friend of mine. It was a great experience, we did weeding to prepare for the picking season coming after.
The accomodation were great, as was the job.

Hello everyone,
My name is Victorino, I am an international student at Curtin University, and I spent my last semester break (January and February 2021) working at Capogreco Farms. I am delighted to share my experience at Capogreco Farms. My comments will cover my expectations, accommodation, the job itself, and the relationship with the farm owners.
Regarding my expectations, before going to the farm, I took a bit of time to get myself familiarised with the job and the conditions offered. As a result of this previous exercise, I was mentally prepared to do whatever the farm owners would ask me to do. Moreover, I was prepared to take the job until the end of my contract. I knew that the job was physically demanding, and I had to follow the rules rigorously. Therefore, just like any other job, it helps get a better understanding of the job in advance and be prepared.

Concerning the accommodation facilities, the conditions are acceptable, and the rent is in line with the conditions offered. The workers are expected to clean the accommodation facilities three times a week. I found the organisation ok; however, it might be challenging for tidy people because there are people from different backgrounds, including some “bad” apples who always leave the kitchen untidy. Talking with people who have been working on different farms, I got the impression that the conditions offered by Capogreco are better than other farms. As such, I think that, regardless of the quality of the accommodation facilities, the occupants should be tidy and well organised to keep it cleaned, which is fundamental for everyone’s health and well-being.

About the job, I was in the packinghouse, and sometimes I did the wedding. Although the job is physically demanding, the body quickly gets adjusted to it. The more you do it; your body gets better prepared for the job. As such, I firmly believe that it depends on your dedication to getting the job done; it is not that hard. Just remember that each job has its challenges. I must admit that I was positively surprised to notice that there were people working on the farms since October/November 2020, which means that you can do the job without too many complaints if you are a determined person.

Regarding the relationship with the owners of the farms, I would say that as long as you follow the rules and do what you are told to do and not to, you will have good relations with them. I got the impression that they care about their workers; for example, they provide free transport twice a week for shopping, and from time to time they offer some fresh products from their farms. The salary is ok and goes hand in hand with the rent. If you do not have enough hours, the rent is adjusted to your weekly salary. To conclude, my experience was good, and I hope you can also have a good experience, as long as you get prepared before taking up the job.
Cheers!
Vic

I worked at Capogreco Farms and I can say that it was a nice experience ... I recommend this farm to the backpacks (not lazy but good workers). all the staff and supervisors are very kind and friendly, (but you too must be) like everywhere and always, brings respect and you will be respected. When you arrive, everything will be explained to you and everything will be written in the contract. I recommend it for backpacks looking for an 88 day farm.

Capogreco farm is a good farm if you want to do your 88days, you need to be an hardworker, really motivated and respectful, because your contract will be for 4 months. The pay is the minimum legal so if it's your first motivation maybe you can find another place.
But one of the good point of this farm is to give you a real experience of life, about the work (picking or packing) and also with the people with who you are working and living.
So, yes I recommend this farm because I had great time there.

I spent here almost two months working.
The job: working on a farm is a very tough job, but working on a farm of melons and watermelons is even tougher. On the one hand, staying under the sun for mostly 6 days a week and 8-10 hours per day, sometimes with 30-45 degrees, is not easy. On the other hand, you can work lots of hours (minimum wage) and also save much money because of many overtime hours (wage is higher). Here people can do their 88 days working continuously for 3 months. It’s not so easy to find a better farm.
The accomodation: rooms and dorm are on the farm. Rooms are for just two people, they are quite small but you have your privacy. No wi-fi. Aircon into the rooms. Farm has two washing machine and people can use it as many times as they need and washing powder is provided. In addiction, the farm provides a van that people can use to go to the supermarket twice a week. Kitchen is quite big and there are many burners available. There are also a big cold room and a freezer.
The stuff: supervisors are not the most friendly people in the world but if you are serious workers and respect the place and the job, you won’t have any problem working with them.
To summarize, this farm is not so bad as the previous reviews say. As i wrote, it’s complicated to find a better farm in order to complete the 88 days and save money for the aussie trip. Here, you can! I had such a great time and met many people. Hope you all have an unforgettable experience here too.

me and my boyfriend we spent here the last 2 mounths of the melon season and i want to be onest that when i left i was sad. Like all farm job, picking melon it is what it is but onestly i did harder jobs than that and also the good think is that you are not working alone but with a team of 16people so you can work and have fun too. the accomodation is fine you share everithing with 40/50 people all backpacker so the time go fast and you have always someone with who share your time know new people from all world is so good! the kichen is big also the fridge and the personal food cages too, all room is double ,the bathroom and the showet is fine . Also they have work for all 5mounths picking and packing so if you need to save your farm days in this farm you can save without problem . Far just 110km from Perth is definnily perfect place if you have to do the farm jobs but in the weekend enjoy the city life too !

I worked on Capogreco Farms for 2 months and found the experience enjoyable. Having just recently arrived in Australia I wasnt sure what to expect of doing farm work. The whole crew were polite which made the work we were doing much more enjoyable. I have made friends that I believe will last a lifetime and for this I am grateful to Capogreco. I would like to sincerely thank our contact Karla for giving us this wonderful opportunity. Ciao

After seen so few stars in many reviews I want to describe my working experience at Capogreco farm! I worked here in january/february 2016. The conditions of my room, shared with a German guy, was more than OK, the room was big enough and was totally brand new. I was working at the packing shed, the pay was ok and even the working conditions were ok. Nobody never shouted at us, even if sometimes, especially at the end of the day, we were tired! We received some beers in the weekend from the owners aswell and the Capogreco family was conprehensive if there were some problems. My experience was fantastic, i found many friendly peolple and many italians that i usually meet up in my country right now.

Totally recommended

I don’t get to Mildura often, however when I do, a priority is to visit Capogreco winery for their beautiful muscats and ports. The quality of these fortified wines and friendliness of the family members over the years remain as good as it has ever been since I first visited them approximately 30 years ago.

We had a really good time here, a lot of hours of hard work but good money and a big plus is that the accomondation is on the farm. We had a good 6 weeks here and made a lot of new friends.

Great place to both work at, and buy fresh rockmelons and garden vegetables from the stall out front, the company is also celebrating 30 years of tradition
