Yakitori Takumi holds a special place in my heart as an Adelaide institution where I've been dining for over a decade.

Its intimate and cozy atmosphere creates the perfect setting for enjoying their authentic Japanese-style BBQ skewers, ideal for sharing.

What sets Yakitori Takumi apart is not only its delicious food but also its incredible Saké collection. The staff's expertise in recommending the right Saké to complement your meal adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.

23/03/2024 - Returned to Yakitori Takumi again the other week before catching a fringe show, and once again, it was an exceptional experience. The food was simply incredible, and the sake selection was truly impressive. However, what truly sets this place apart is the unparalleled level of customer service. Words cannot do justice to the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. It's refreshing to see such a well-established restaurant thriving in the distinctive Adelaide dining scene. Added some photos to showcase the experience. Highly recommend a visit

Yakitori Takumi is an excellent Japanese restaurant with impeccable service and delicious food. The whole experience was top notch and friendly staff made for a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The recommended sake was awesome and added to the overall experience. Highly recommend!

Love this place. We hadn't been for a while, but it still has delicious food and a warm, authentic atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to spend a night out here. About half a dozen items are enough for the two of us. The menu has been downsized, but I notice the favourites are still on offer.

My first dining experience with Takumi Yakitori was superb! I love love love Japanese food so this year I decided to try Takumi on my birthday. We did not make a reservation so we turned up at 6pm when it was just opened. Staff were so friendly, they knew it was our first time here hence they gave us an introduction on everything. The price might be a little high for skewers but I think it was worth it. You can tell they have put so much effort maintaining the quality of the food and they do care about their customers. This place is best to visit with a bunch of good friends so I’m already thinking of bringing my friends over in the future:) Perhaps it’s better to make a reservation in advance. Thanks Takumi and the team! :)

VERY GOOD! Very first time I ordered food without paying attention to my bill! SOOOOOOO delicious and authentic. Perfect for a date and friends gathering. Definitely be back soon. Though the portion of the food may seems small for the majority , I'm very happy to spend my money here. Staffs are nice, good sakes, beers and atmosphere. (I am a big fan of Japanese food)

Love this place! The food is amazing,
I recommend trying the tempura mushrooms, the green tea salt which they use is fantastic.
They also have an extensive Sake menu which is a nice treat on a Friday night.
It’s a small intimate dining space with a few booths so It can be hard to get bigger bookings, I recommend booking a week in advance at least.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!
Intimate and cosy dining experience and if you’re fortunate enough to get a seat at the bar, you can watch the chefs weave their magic. Friendly service and every dish was sensational! Really enjoyed the sake and left feeling full, happy and litttttt

Just found a really authentic "Izakaya" in Adelaide when visiting from Sydney and it was very, very *VERY* good! (I've never found anything as good or authentic as this in Sydney).

The best meal dining out anywhere in a very long time. Amazing food, atmosphere, staff and service.

It's lovely to get some complimentary edamame to nibble on with your beer. Nice touch. 👌🏻

Can highly recommend this place if you're in town. The taste of the various dishes was sublime, and the service from our waiter, Charles, was exceptional. The staff will help you with recommendations which is well-worth taking advantage of. I can't wait to come back here next time I visit Adelaide. This place is wonderful! So oishi! Just go and EAT UP! 😍

The best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan itself. Hai! 🇯🇵🏯❤

I am not a friend to write a review about a restaurant, but will still have an expection sometime like Yakitori Takumi, fall in love here since visiting the first time and been here so many times since then, love the atmosphere, the passion with the food, everything cooked beautifully, real authentic Yakitori that is brought from their country, been to Japan so many time, Yakitori Takumi definitely feels like it takes me back to Japan. I absolutely have no idea why some reviews are so ridiculous, what is the lack of favour or small portions, for those people, they don't know the real authentic Yakitori, I think Big Mac may more suitable for them.

We had amazing night ❤ I finally got a booking for my partner’s birthday. My partner had pork belly, beef and hashimi yakitori. He was quite satisfied and he said it’s the best yakitori restaurant in Adelaide. When he had first bite, he was so surprised! I had eggplant, and mushrooms tempura. We also had rice cakes. It was great service and I appreciate you guys made my partner‘s birthday amazing day! Thank you so much.

When you think of artisans, what country would first pop into your mind? Japan of course! Takumi yakitori or 'artisan yakitori' lives up to its name. Initially you may be surprised at the portion size and price, but this is how yakitori should be. Eddie's and his team's food is all about bringing out the best flavor of each dish; the photos just do not do it justice. Whether its lightly seasoned with salt as with the Wagyu, succulent pieces of baby squid dipped in sweet yakitori sauce with a touch of spice or the perfectly cooked fatty flame seared salmon topped with lightly seasoned radish, complexity and depth of flavor exceeds most "high end" restaurants. To be honest, the friendly atmosphere, lively staff and great service all contribute to Takumi being one of the best restaurants in Australia. As a foodie, this is a must must must try if you are in Adelaide. P.S book in advance as it can be packed!

My wife and I had a lovely dinner at Yakitori Takumi. We started off the night with some single malt whiskey, the Miyagikyo and the Yoichi served with complimentary Edamame. Following, we had pork belly, Angus beef, chicken, scallops special (from Hokkaido) zucchini special, and chicken drumstick. Yum! They cook the food on the hotplate just in front of you, the chefs were entertaining and put on a bit of a show. Service was attentive and we had a great night!
