Canberra Tracks - Blacksmith Shop

Quite amazing to stand here and think this shop was a community hub, given the development here now. There’s a nice historical summary and you can still see the bellows

While it is now behind a barbed wire fence, this workshop is still interesting to look at from outside. The log and corrugated tin construction is of interest, and one can easily get quite a good peak inside. All of the smithing equipment seems to have been removed. Even though the ACT Government has marked this as a tourist attraction on its Canberra Tracks, this place is not very accessible to the public. The only gate leading into the fenced-off yard is from a ‘private property.’ It seems that the owner has no intention of tearing it down and has afforded it a generous yard. But, it looks a bit like a working yard, as a shipping container has been plonked next to it.
