Blanbla’s Mónica Bernabe Pérez is a highly intelligent native of Madrid who has views about the teaching of Spanish which differ from the conventional. If the latter’s what you’re used to, you might be surprised by her approach to teaching. She’s not a great fan of traditional grammar-based lessons, sitting in classrooms in groups. She wants to get you speaking and communicating. And she listens to you, resisting the temptation to constantly interrupt to correct your errors the moment you make them. But, having listened to you for a while, she will stop from time to time to make key points that will aid your learning and understanding of the language. OK, so my level is around upper intermediate so I can “keep going” when speaking Spanish, plenty of errors included! Would it work for absolute beginners? Certainly, it can. As part of my TEFL course to become teacher of English to foreign students, I had to spend an afternoon learning Turkish, a language unrelated to English. The teacher breezed in speaking her mother tongue and never spoke a word of English but two hours later we were all using basic Turkish to barter for a variety of foods in a market. I believe Mónica can do just the same with new learners of Spanish. She also constantly encourages you, giving positive feedback as you trash her language. As with any language learning, the amount of study you do on your own is vital and will dictate the speed with which you acquire Spanish. ¡Buena suerte!

Monica is the gentlest and most patient Spanish teacher I have ever had. She provides guidance when I need it, but she never makes me feel bad for not knowing how to express myself. I highly recommend BlanBla for anyone looking for Spanish classes!

I absolutely love Monica’s teaching style as it makes it so easy to learn Spanish in a practical way. By telling stories and using news, ads and music we’re able to easily process the language to learn to understand what’s being said. Personally I find this way of teaching to be easily digestible. Highly recommend this school if you’re looking to learn Spanish!
