Truly amazing place, don't rush and take a walk, enjoy the scenery and breath. We walked around the trail and it took us few hours with stops and playing around, making photos of local wildlife. It is pretty short drive from Adelaide and on weekends there could be more people than on weekdays. There is lot's of nice places around to enjoy as well.

A stunning island in Victor Harbor. To access the island, you can walk through the jetty or take the horse train. You can walk around the island, enjoying beautiful views, and you can see penguins too.

Granite Island is a popular attraction in Victor Harbor, South Australia. We visited during the long weekend for the King's birthday and had a great time. Compared to our previous visit, the newly constructed tram bridge is now open, but unfortunately, the old wooden bridge has been removed. Granite Island is perfect for a family walk around the island, and it takes about an hour with photo stops. It's important to note that the island can be quite windy, so it's recommended to bring slightly thicker clothing. Also, the island's only restroom and restaurant are located at the tram stop, so it's important to plan your visit accordingly.

We walked around the island in an anti-clockwise motion with toddler in tow and managed to do it in approximately an hour give or take with a few stops. Couple steep inclines but he managed well. Gorgeous views along the way of both the island and surrounding ocean.

A stunning island near Victor Harbor with great easy walks and spectacular views of the coast. It's accessible via a causeway. There's a nice Cafe on the island with friendly staff. Please be aware that bicycles, scooters, and dogs are not allowed on the island. There are signs, but they are really small and hard to see.

On a sunny day , it’s a good place to spend a quality time. Very calm n quiet place with beautiful views all around. Enjoy the walk close to nature. Nice trail. When in Adelaide do plan a visit to this place. You can enjoy the ride on horse tram too. Enjoy light snacks in the eateries around

Very beautiful scenery. There's a cafe on the island. We took the horse drawn tram to get to the island. Many types of bird and ducks too on the island. Worth the visit.

Fantastic views along the trails and a nice little kiosk run by the parks service.

The new Causeway out to the island is nice and wide and of course the horse drawn tram still runs!

Very nice island! Has a nice view point and there is a train that’s pulled by a horse to see over the water. Includes a nice walk.

Great place to explore and see the wildlife. Have a look at the penguins and all the different types birds. Maybe even catch a glimpse of a whale or two. And I highly recommend catching a ride across to the island on the horse pulled carriage.

Granite Island is a lovely island to explore where you can enjoy the outdoors and possibly see some wildlife.
Unfortunately, the weather was gloomy on the day that I visited, however I could still appreciate the nature that was available.
Dogs are not allowed on the island to help preserve the nature and animals - penguins nest on the island and dogs can be predators to penguins.
There is a well formed walking track that will take you around the island.
If you are lucky, you may see dolphins swimming!

Great family outing. We loved this trip with family. So many sights and things to do. We took the horse drawn tram which offered great views and a unique experience. Coastal views and exploring is a key aspect of the whole experience. I intend on going back again sometime as I feel we only skimmed the surface.

This is the key attraction on an excursion at Victor Harbor. The island itself is an interesting place to explore. There is a hiking track around the island which should take about 30 -45 minutes to complete. There is wooden staircase which you easily get to the top of the island with spectacular 360 degree views.

It's like lost into the other world. Walking on the tram line to the island is definitely an unique experience. With a bit effort of hiking you will see lots of breathtaking spots. Good place to chill as well as to fish. They have carmel riding with affordable price which is $10 per head. Highly recommend.

The granite, that the island is made of, formed deep under a high mountain range 500 million years ago. The mountains eroded a long time ago and uplift exposed a chain of granite outcrops. The larger ones are now tourist attractions: Devil's Marbles and Remarkable Rocks on Kangaroo Island, the Bluff and Granite Island.
The northern end of the island was quarried to build the breakwater, giving a flat, landscaped area that has a tram station and a café.
At the southern end there is the Umbrella Rock and other granite boulders sculpted by rain, surf and wind.
The path around the island rewards walkers with views of boulders painted with orange and yellow lichen, colourful wildflowers with The Bluff and Norfolk pine studded shoreline in the background.
Flat walk except for the stairs leading up to the top, easy done under an hour, a bit longer if you wait to see people get drenched by freak waves on the breakwater, take in the views or take photos and explore alternate paths.

A must visit Granite Island. Would strongly recommend to do the loop walk on. If you are lucky, you may sight dolphins playing around.
