Dolly Up

For me, shopping at Dolly Up is akin to rummaging through my mother’s dress up box as a child, except that each piece is carefully curated, hand washed, pressed, and delicately hung on wooden hangers. It is, essentially, a treasure trove of fabrics, prints, lace, and jewels. But, what makes this store stand out from every other selective vintage store is the experience. For most of us Erin is our vintage inspiration—gorgeous looks with more style than a Vogue archive. But, she is also incredibly intelligent and observant—she understands OTHER peoples’ styles and tries to sort and match the perfect garment for the right person. She talks about clothes like they are entities unto themselves—how a garment is supposed to evoke an emotion, image, time, or place. I keep returning not only for the beautiful and unique apparel, but also (and perhaps more so) for the personal experience. If you haven’t yet, you really should go.
