Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre

Our family has been coming here every week for almost seven years . Spacious, hygienic, aesthetic , and most of all, the heated pool all year long ! The centre has a friendly and effective management team and staff . Initially there was a senior staff who’s very racist towards non-Caucasian kids and got complained by quite a few parents. The centre dealt with the complaints immediately. After a thorough investigation the senior staff was removed for good. If not because we have relocated we would have still been here every week . They have set the bar high that I still haven’t found another place even match Ian Thorpe . I guess we will still be coming back for casual play . To be in compliance with their photo policy around kids and leisure pool no photo was taken around the other 2 pools . Strongly recommended.

Great facility- my opinion, the best aquatic complex in the city. Warm showers that are not on timer buttons… Steam and sauna! And a great weight room.

One of the best pools in Sydney! Friendly and helpful staff, great facilities and a pool that is fit for our purpose of teaching clients to overcome a fear of water. Highly recommend a visit to this pool if you love swimming in Sydney.

My favourite swimming hole. Staff always welcoming and engaging. Facilities clean, tidy and in good order. Parking is easy and not to expensive.

Good for swimming and relaxing in sauna and/or steam room. Good atmosphere, clean and not overcrowded. Do recommend.

Ian thorp has 3 pools - the Olympic and two kids pool. The kids pools are super - we come every week. The building is also by Harry Sielder - so if you don’t like swimming come for the architecture

If you live in the city, the centre is accessible through light rail. It has a modern architecture and the pool is perfect even in winter. There’s a boutique inside in case you forgot something, which is convenient!

They have good facility for swimming, 50m pool, changing rooms, paid lockers, and ones reserved for different level of swimmers. Generally positive experience to swim here.

Nice public pool with sauna, steam bath and gym. It even has a small outside area for sunbathing or just for relaxing after the exercise or sauna.

Great aquatic centre! Olympic pool with good temperature and another pool if you want to spend some time relaxing with your kids! Pay by day, very affordable!

Really great place to swim laps if you’re in the neighborhood. The complex has multiple pools, including a large 50m lap pool. The water is a little on the cooler side, but still comfortable. The pool was clean and well maintained and the staff and other swimmers were friendly. Highly recommend!

Loved coming into the city and pulling some laps at Ian Thorpe. I love the flowing lines in the building. If you like to swim at different pools this one is worth the visit.

Versatile public swimming pool with options for family, individuals, and sports enthusiasts. Open most days, but extended hours until later in the evening would enhance the experience. Currently closes around 8 p.m.

Very friendly and knowledgeable front desk costumer service. Seri and Suweta were very helpful. They were able to assist with my adult swim lessons. Seri also assisted me in signing up for the 360 plan. LaNell ( sorry for the spelling)is the best swim instructor that I have ever had. At 61 years old and several attempts at over those years, I made more progress and am totally comfortable and confident in my swimming. I can’t thank her enough.

Have been coming here a while now for the classes. Really good staff.

My trainer Sam is a consummate professional. He is very knowledgeable, while at the same time, very personable and has always been great at encouraging me to reach beyond my own expectations. I have lost at least 5 kgs in only 2 months of training while my body shape and muscle growth has so far improved beyond my expectations. I would recommend him to anyone. With him, you're in good hands!

Excellent health and sporting facility for all skill levels, terrific swimming pools and children's swimming lessons for our 3 boys, gym facilities and bike classes are excellent and Sam and colleagues have superb cycling class styles. The sauna's are fabulous and well maintained (nice and hot).
The staff are always friendly and extremely helpful and speak a very large range of languages. The swim teachers have an amazing amount of skill to keep even the youngest student involved and happy. They have extra fun days involving inflatables which are hilarious to jump on (and off).
There is a very large parking area directly underneath the facility, which is handy, especially if it rains.
It is open for very long hours and is very clean.
I have recommended it to many of my friends and family.
