Trades Hall

Spent an hour here after anticipating five minutes. Excellent loop video on the history of Broken Hill & the trade union movement - really can’t appreciate BH without an understanding of the labour movement & their fight for the rights of workers. A special place to visit if you are in Broken Hill.

This was included in a 2hr walking tour from the visitors centre. Well worth checking this out…a social and industrial history of the town…and fantastic acoustics.
Our guide also enhanced the tour with many stories of the town, work and mining. Fascinating tour, gold coin donation…well worth it. Thanks Don.

The trades hall was absolutely amazing they put on a union meeting and absolutely went out of Thier way for us tourist off the Indian Pacific for 7am in the morning awsome

Broken Hill Trades Hall is a fantastic tribute to the battle for workers rights and safety in the work place. The restoration of the building has been done beautifully, highly recommend a good hour here.

A fascinating reenactment of a historic Union meeting. Very entertaining and interesting. For a very short visit to Cook it gave me a real understanding of the town.

Visited here as part of a tour run by volunteers from the information centre. Don (ducky) the guide was great and shared his life as a miner as well.

Locals did a re enactment of a union meeting, which resulted in a miners strike to improve workers conditions, especially safety.
It was well done and involved an amusing participation of us visitors.
Drinks and light food was provided after 'the meeting'

Great building, a lot of history. Head on inside and watch the short video and view the beautiful hall.

If travelling on the Indian Pacific from Sydney this is a great stop at 630am in Broken Hill.

An amateur theatre group do a union meeting and the cakes coffee and hot pasties were yum!!!!

Took my disabled clients to the bike show they loved it and the men from the bike club let them in for free and could not have been nicer

Very interesting place. They hold a 1940/50s style union meeting with everyone joining in followed by a nice morning tea.

Fascinating history with a beautifully made building to match, worth a look at our working past where they ions started.

Great history you're not going to find anywhere else
