Star Anise Cafe

We found star anise just from a random Google search. We were looking for somewhere different on the lake because we got bored of the same place we always visit in Swansea. We got there and the place was empty but within 2 minutes of sitting down the phone was ringing off the hook for orders and the place was absolutely buzzing (in a nice safe physically distanced way!!) Thankfully we pre ordered 2 Portuguese tarts before we ordered breakfast... Because the 4 that were there would have sold 5 times over and by afternoon tea time...we knew why... Wow. Yummmo! The staff are friendly, the coffee was nice, food was great and the location was just a few mins from the start of the foreshore walk. Awesome! Will definitely go back.

Coffee was well made and delicious. The cakes and pastries are baked in house and they all looked really yummy- tried the Portuguese tart and it was the perfect combo of burnt sugar, crispy pastry and creamy custard *chef’s kiss*

I was really impressed.
We came in for a late lunch - it had been a busy day, so we were told straight out that stocks were low on some ingredients but the cook told us she would improvise depending what we felt like. My fish and chips were fantastic! I didn't think anything was missing, so compliments to the cook!

Just had the best breakfast I've ever had! Generous lashings of chorizo in tasty, artistically presented eggs with flatbread and an exquisite basil-based dipping sauce. Ample portion sizes too. Wonderful, friendly staff. This place was a real find and we'll be back to try the paella and other Spanish and Italian delights on the lunch and dinner menus. Highly recommended.

Do yourself a favour and have the lamb wrap for lunch - absolutely outstanding. Served with some of the best chips I’ve had the pleasure of eating anywhere or lunch experience here was superb. Great to see a small local business getting things so right.

This place is always great. Never fails. Amazing food. Green at coffee and perfect staff. Nice to be remembered when you return. Always look forward to going there. Even if just for a coffee... 😀

The brunch menu is probably a bit pricy and the food was served a bit slow. But I think it's worth the price and the wait.
