Hippo Espresso

As we walked our way across the street looking for a place to have lunch, we stumbled upon the Hippo Espresso. An establishment tucked away in the street, with great outdoor seating and high quality service.

We ordered a works burger, bowl of chips, a chocolate cheese cake and a chicken, avo and cheese toasty. As well as a range of drinks including a coffee, milkshake and a thick shake. The food is amazing, with fresh ingredients, and quick service that made the experience that much more enjoyable.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially since we were new to the establishment and weren’t aware of the order process. Overall, the establishment accommodated for customer needs, with quick service followed by quality cuisine. I would recommend this place for anyone in the local area or travelling!

We ate here two days in a row while we were in the area, would happily go back again. The food was great, service was lovely, and it's nice and spacious inside so it was easy enough to get a table.

I had a lovely brunch at Hippo Espresso. The bacon and egg roll filled me completely and I couldn't fit in all my chips.

The new system they have with the tablets to order from is amazing, you order the food from it and they bring it to you. You can also use it to call for a waiter and they will come to you.

When I visited it was quite busy, however we were able to be seated which was surprising as we didn't have a reservation.

Loved my meal and will be back again.

Excellent coffee and cakes. Can be a little bit hit and miss during busy periods. Plenty of seating, some with lake views. Kiddies corner and an external coffee take away window.

Not joking. Just had the most amazing breakfast at this place. The Hippo Breaky with the pork belly. Even my cappuccino was excellent. I am in Heaven.

I want to thank Hippo for accommodating our needs, we have a disabled person, you can't expect everything to be perfect, but I feel the staff were very helpful towards our requests, did their best and were friendly in general.

My only issue is that the back area of the restaurant is pretty noisy, but that's true of so many places, we ended up changing to sit out the front, absolutely no fuss from the staff.

Can't fault this place. One of the nicest breakfasts I've had. Fast service and nice and cool inside. Definitely recommend!

Great spot by the lake for a coffee. Inside is well designed and nice. Sadly the road out front is very busy and quite loud.

Delicious food and good service. This was my 3rd visit after hearing about it through a friend. Will be back again and again.

I’m sitting in this happy cafe having just finished a plate full of Persian deliciousness (the beetroot dip was the hero). The cup of Mocha was the best I have ever had. I couldn’t stop drinking it with the flavours just perfect & the foam firm till the end. Even though I’m here alone - I don’t feel alone as there is a friendly inclusive ambience in this place. Thank you staff and the Owner for the gift of a delightful experience.

Nice food, coffee, very busy when I went.

Good coffee, food, and location! We had the option of eating inside, alfresco, or takeaway. We chose a takeaway and headed across to the bay. What a lovely spot.

I had salt and pepper calamari with sweet potato chips. Literally the only "criticism" I have - and it's not really a criticism, I just feel bad about the waste - is that I expected a biggish handful of chips, maybe the equivalent of 2 recommended servings (per RDI)... What I got was like 3 potatoes worth of deliciously crispy, fluffy chips that I was never going to be able to finish but by god I was going to try! I got about half way through. Will definitely get that again, but I'll order the chips to share.

Excellent service and range of cakes. The coffee was great with fast service. Just a little noisy due to it being such a large shop.
