Common Grounds Morpeth

We were travelling and needed a place to stop with 2 dogs and that did gluten free. Common Grounds was perfect for both. Good food and coffee, we'd go there again.

Netty. Was. Here. A popular local spot for breakfast. For a cozy table on the sunny back deck, call ahead. I had the omelette which has delicious sweet and spicy flavours. Staff are fantastic, it’s a happy buzzing location to start your day.

Cute little spot for food. Coffee was actually one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Went here for breakfast and they had a great selection of house made things. They have definitely thought about balancing flavours . All the staff are great. Even as I watched them deal with an influx of people who sat at dirty tables, sat themselves and started to move tables they handled it all well. As someone runs a restaurant I hate eating out . But I actually enjoyed coming here . Thanks guys will definitely be back for another coffee

So many vegan choices, and all sounded delicious. I LOVED the sweet potato rosti, so flavoursome and delicious. I want to try all the options, so will be back! Beautiful spot overlooking the river and great coffee too. Well done on a really lovely cafe and amazing menu ❤.

Common Grounds is a great little café in the historic town of Morpeth. This little town is in the Hunter region, about 30 minutes away from the Hunter Valley main area. The café is situated alongside the Hunter river, and if you sit in the rear of the café, you have a view of the river. The café has plenty of space to eat in, whether it be with your family, friends or solo. They have an all day breakfast and lunch menu with plenty of options from eggs, avo on toast, to fish and chips. We like that the menu has plenty of options for dietary requirements, such as G/F, Vegetarian and Vegan dishes. Their sweet potato rosti was lovely. This V and Gluten Free dish is a pattie of smooth sweet potato, crispy exterior and served with beetroot hummus, salsa, lemon and greens.

We also enjoyed the marinated steak sandwich with caramelised onion, roquette, smoked cheese and house made relish on Turkish Bread. Ordinarily it is made with chips, but they were kind enough to let me order salad instead. Drinks wise, there’s plenty of juices, milkshakes, smoothies and they use Glee Coffee for the coffee beans. They also have a range of sweet treats from slices to cakes.

We thought the service was stellar, with the lady making every effort to make us feel welcome and well looked after.

Great food and lovely vibe! Coffee was really nice too. I highly recommend and would go back again!

Was very popular on the weekend, we were lucky to get a table (some weren't so may be best to call ahead)...and I know why. Scrumptious food! I ordered the vegan sourdough with avocado, pickled cauliflower, brocolli and the vegan hashbrowns (they have ones with egg also so if vegan, ask specifically). The chips were cooked perfectly and I ordered a take away vegan wrap and anzac biscuits, all impressive. Would try them again for sure!

Girlfriend and I had two eggs Benedict for Breakfast, it was so beautiful and filling I had to get a another drink of orange juice, Thank You Staff for a Great Morning.

I've visited Common Grounds a few times now and have always had a good experience.

On my most recent visit I ordered the Southern Style Fried Taco. This is composed of southern style fried chicken, slaw, greens with aioli and a wedge of lime on an open wrap as pictured.

The chicken was amazing and all of the ingredients worked well together. I put a squeeze of lime on, wrapped it up and ate up!

My partner ordered an eggplant dish with greens, mushroom, sweet potato crisps, and beetroot. She was very happy with it. I had a couple of bites and also really enjoyed it even though it's not something I'd usually order myself.

Common Grounds has a laid back atmosphere with a nice view of the Hunter River from the back room 👍

We shared a family breakfast /lunch here recently, service was friendly and fast, it was a busy Sunday, mid morning.
Food was very good, we had a wide selection from a breakfast board, which was amazing and so much of it, a couple of burgers, a vegan breakfast and a few different smoothies. All were nice.
Well worth a visit, lovely views over the Hunter River if seated out the back.
Highly recommended.
