Thank you to Anna for helping me find the perfect lace for my wedding dress alterations! It was a tricky task to find a match. She was very knowledgeable with her recommendations and took the time to make sure I checked the fabric with my seamstress before buying. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in future for fabrics.

Twenty three years ago, my aunty took mum to this exquisite fine fabrics store. Fell inlove and took home what would become her elegant outfit for September Women’s Sunday 2000. This year, an answered prayer, led us back to the amazing Anna, and once again, mum has reincarnated her love for finer things!

My mum and I were looked after from the moment we walked in, and both left feeling so happy about our fabric choices. I am a return customer to Selective Fine Fabrics and went in looking for ideas for a Mother of the Bride dress. Anne was wonderful with the advice she gave, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience amidst much laughter and jokes. The range of fabrics she has is superb, and cannot be found elsewhere. Her personal advice to me was exactly what I needed, and I left her shop with a huge smile on my face, and stunning fabric that I can't wait to have made into a dream outfit.

I'm still smiling as I write this review, as Anne is the kind of person I always hope to meet in stores, but almost never do. She is incredibly experienced, and treated me as an individual instead of the stock standard sizes that clothing stores generally mark everyone with. If you are looking for material to make a fabulous outfit from, I cannot recommend Anne and her wonderful store enough.

On walking through the door of Selective Fine Fabrics, I was greeted with such a welcoming smile from Anna. I had recently started the search for my wedding dress but quickly found that the ideal dress had a very expensive price tag! Anna made me feel extremely special when I came in and worked with me to find the makings of my perfect wedding dress. Not only was the fabric she selected absolutely amazing, but it was pure silk - much better quality than the dresses I had tried on and for 1/5 of the price! In fact, I loved Selective Fine Fabrics so much that I bought the material for my bridesmaid dresses there too. On my wedding day all the dresses were perfect and I could not have been happier! II cannot thank Ana and all the staff at Selective Fine Fabrics enough for the way they worked together to find all my dress materials. Each of them went over and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect for my wedding day. Thank you so much for everything!

I can't believe I've only just found this shop! It reminded me of what fabric shopping used to be when I was a child (out for a trip with my grandmother), before the big chain stores took over: beautiful quality fabrics of all kinds at every turn. I went in looking for velvets, and came out with exactly what I needed and more. The fabric collection is wonderful, and the shopping experience is excellent. So many gorgeous fabrics to browse, and excellent service. I received perfect advice for which velvet would work best for my project, as well as a lovely lining fabric for a 'spur of the moment' fabric find that I had to take home with me. I will definitely be coming back, just so wonderful! Thank you!

I absolutely love this place in fact I’ve been coming here for 15 years. I’m getting married in three weeks and I left my dress til the last minute. I just knew and trusted Anna and Stephen and knew with their knowledge and beautiful fabrics it would all be fine. And yes it’s just perfect, got the most gorgeous fabric and also a dressmaker. Nothing is too much trouble. My 88 year old Mum has been coming here for the same length of time and she is always delighted with her special occasion dresses. Can’t wait for you to see the photos. These wonderful ladies really know their stuff and even though the store was full of customers we felt as though we were thoroughly taken care of . I didn't even know this amazing store existed until a dress maker recommended it to me! From the moment my bridesmaid and I walked through the doors we were welcomed by the lovely Anna. Anna asked what we were in search of (without even really knowing myself, only the shape style), I showed her different images of different designs I had on my Pinterest boards. From there Anna selected a couple of different Laces she thought I might like (by going off what I had showed her), and explained to me what each lace would and could do differently compared to the other. She offered me wonderful honest advice which I was stoked to receive and didn't try to sell me more lace than needed. Anna made me feel very relaxed and confident. As someone who has spent almost 2 months trying on numerous wedding dresses and having had decided on the style of dress I wanted but had never found 'the dress', I am so confident and excited that my dress maker will create my 'dream dress' using the stunning lace purchased today at Selective Fine Fabrics. Thank you so much Anna for all of your wonderful help and being so patient with me. I'll 200% be back!

Absolutely adore this shop! It’s like a treasure trove of amazing fabrics from Europe. My personal passion is finding designer fabrics and creating my own works of art. Yes, the fabrics are more expensive than a well known fabric chain store but if quality and uniqueness is what you’re after Selective Fine Fabrics is the place. I have used beautiful Italian silks and cottons and this has renewed my interest in sewing. Anna and Louise are delightful and very knowledgeable in their products and provide excellent service. The store is located opposite Garden City shopping centre. Park the car in the Coles car park about 100m north of the store.
