Ascot State School

I can’t recommend this school highly enough. Everyone we dealt with from teachers to principal to admin staff was absolutely helpful and professional. The class teachers put so much work into individualising the work for each student. And the kids are polite and well behaved. I am very happy for choosing this school for my kid after trying 2 other highly rated schools.

If you are researching schools in this area or in north of brisbane, then this is definitely the best school in the are. Ascot SS is a large school and everyone would have different experiences and everyone has different expectations from school. But I'd like to highlight a few key things that could help you make your decision:

1) Ascot and Hamilton and one of the richest areas in Brisbane and this school is attended by many rich and ultra rich children. People enrol their second, third and fourth child to this school. So obviously this school has something to offer. Right?

2) Lack of funds is main issue for most state schools. But not for Ascot SS. Mainly due to large number of students and also due to higher income of parents. Usually school raises good money during all fundraisers throughout the year.

3) In young age, quality of peer group matter more than academics. And I have seen positive impact of peer group on my children in last few years. Also, the parents groups are very active and supportive. I have evolved along with my children and have developed great friendships with other parents.

4) Never had a single bullying issue nor heard anyone else experienced it. Bullying trait depends on child's background and demographics to some extent - and being from highly educated and high income earning families, most children here are well-behaved and display great qualities in all areas of life.

5) Lastly - there are a lot of after-school extra-curricular activities offered on the campus. My children have attended Yoga, Football, Gymnastic, Chess, Music, Drama and they decided to choose 1-2 activities after a couple of year. Exposure was a great thing for us.

p.s. There are 3 negative reviews about this school on google. These are from same person, written on the same day. That person has also written 3 positive reviews for eagle junction state school. (which is also a great school by the way) I assume, that person either had different expectations or could not resolve a personal issue with the school.

Fantastic school, our boys moved here from St Agatha’s Clayfield and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made. The teachers are wonderful, and the kids absolutely love every day at school.

Ascot is definitely one of the top primary schools in Queensland. This school is a credit to the dedication of it's teaching and admin staff both past and present, and of-course the tireless efforts of the Parents and Friends Association, who are the backbone of this school, and the wider Ascot / Hamilton community. This school is the reason that Ascot / Hamilton property prices are the highest in Brisbane, as the local community spirit is valued highly, amongst parents especially. Ascot Primary School has an excellent special needs program, and the teachers embrace these vulnerable kids with a devotion and patience that is well beyond their job descriptions. I do think that all alumni / alumnae of this fine institution should walk with pride, knowing that their education was of the highest standard.
