This is a beautiful remnant patch of bushland by the beach at Alex Heads. There are a few different regional ecosystems in there and a lovely dense patch of subtropical rainforest along the creek line. Some good birds to see like the green catbird and a small population of fairy wrens and a myriad of other animals like monitors and small mammals.

This very small forest is only 3 minutes walk from the beach and is an oasis for wildlife within the surrounding urban area. The cries of raucous Rainbow Lorikeets fill the air as well as that of many other birds. Tiny lizards were in abundance too. Taken at a very slow pace the walk can be done in 20 minutes but it is not suitable for wheelchairs as the ground can be soggy and there are steps to negotiate. Unfortunately an ugly high fence forms one straight, boundary but children should enjoy the looped, central track.

The bush by the beach! Lovely little spot for a short walk - lots of birds, we saw a Kookaburra.
