Very clean room with very good amenities

Comfy king sized bed with good pillows & linen

Plenty of hot water with fantastic water pressure in the shower

My only negative is that I like to eat my steak, as ordered. My money my choice

Unfortunately my steak was served to me the way that the cook thinks that I should eat my steak.
Yes, the cook had a very modern meat temp probe that indicates the correct internal temp via a coloured LED light in the probe.

Whilst a very sincere apology was given & an offer to rectify the issue, I politely refused the offer.
I didn’t want to fall victim to being “that guy” who sent his steak back to the kitchen.

All in all, I still give the Abacus Motel & Staff a solid 10 outta 10 & I’ll definitely stay here again & recommend the Abacus 😊

Absolutely fantastic motel with very friendly staff, excellent attention to detail and lovely touches! We were offered a cute little complimentary cheeseboard on arrival, lovely welcoming sign on our pet friendly room, lovely little touches on our meals. The staff were very kind and went above and beyond to serve us; helping us find out if weather would affect any of our travel plans as we had not passed through this area before. The room was very clean and very well suited to pets; we had cats with us but the small private, well fenced outdoor area at the back of the room would be great for dogs. We ordered room service from the restaurant and were very impressed with our delicious meals served hot, fast and fresh! Highly, highly recommend a stay and a meal at Abacus Motel!

Really lovely place to stay in Mt Isa. Room was a good size and having a room that was a bit more accessible was much appreciated. A wheelchair user may struggle with turning space to get into the bathroom, but the room was great for me.

Service was very friendly and helpful. The little pool is excellent - lagoon entry rather than steps which made it accessible to me.

Room service dinner was good, especially the corn.

Will stay again

These guys helped us by squeezing us in with our dog Peaches into a room when they were really full. A great room for traveling with your furry friends, nice and quiet. The bed was really comfortable, the only thing we found was that there was a lightbulb that had blown in one of the lights.

The streaming TV services were a great addition when you're travelling on the road, along with their room service option if you're feeling a bit weary like we were.

The perfect location to get out on the road early from, and is a great spot to stay, we really loved our stay!

Stayed for 4 nights while visiting family. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were modern and very clean and tidy with a nice bonus of a little courtyard. Being on the outskirts of town, it was nice and quiet. Even though it is on a main road, noise was no issue. The pool has floats and noodles to use which our son loved, the only downside is no shade over the pool. Would definitely stay here again.

From the time of calling to make a reservation to checkout staff were so helpful, friendly and courteous.
When they knew we were travelling from the NT they reassured us that our room would be ready and available even if we came after the office closed.

Staff rang to check our progress and then when we arrived we were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness. Check in was a breeze.

Even though the kitchen had closed staff still arranged for us to get a meal which they delivered to our room. The meal was excellent!!

The rooms are clean, quiet and well appointed. Parking is undercover outside your door.

There is even a windscreen squeegee to clean the bugs off after a long day on the road.

Bed was comfortable and quality linen.

An oasis in the west for sure!!
Great old fashioned western hospitality is not gone after all!!

We will definitely be back and, as we now know there are pet friendly rooms, we will bring the furry family next time too.

Service isn’t hard, just see how these wonderful people do it at a reasonable price.

Nice pool and outdoor area. Access to the washing machine and dryer or clotheslines. The restaurant is also good, with amazing staff.

We picked The Abacus Motel to stay out as the reviews were good & it was decently priced. To say that we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay here on our road trip is an understatement. The staff were lovely from check in to check out. When entering our room, we found it very welcoming. The owners have updated what could be a motel stuck in the 90’s so our room was modern & comfortable. The little touches like the mini welcome cheese platter, bathroom amenities, water, tea & coffee & cookies in the room as well as the on-site restaurant made our stay more memorable. The restaurant needs its own mention as everything we ordered for dinner was delicious & full of flavour. If you’re stopping at Mount Isa, stay at the Abacus Motel. You won’t be disappointed

Great stay so far! Friendly staff, great food and clean rooms. All the staff have been absolutely amazing through my stay and I hope to stay here again if I come back to Mt Isa :)

After walking out from a property up the road the manager and team were more than gracious to accommodate us. The room was excellent clean and spacious. Complementary cheese board and enough parking to fit our road train out the front. The pool was fantastic to have a dip and the service and staff were amazing. On-site restaurant was very good quality. I can’t praise them enough

After having a shaky start when our online reservation didn’t secure our room, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They rang other accommodation trying to find us somewhere else in Mt Isa, but everything was booked out. They then (at 8.00 pm) cleaned a room that had been vacated late in the day while we ate a great meal in their restaurant even though the kitchen was supposed to close at 7.30pm. Great staff who were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Highly recommend the abacus.

The food at The restaurant is Ok. I ordered linguine praw is good. My husband ordered baramundi butter, it was small fish.

A great Motel with a fantastic restaurant. Michelle, Chris, Chefs, hospitality staff & other staff couldn't do enough for us. A big shout out to the restaurant staff. We had two beautiful dinners. The food was delicious and so well presented. We highly recommend the Abacus!

Great food and service. The roast vegetables with dinner each night were up there with the best Ive had-especially the beetroot! The beds were very soft and towels fluffy.

On a business trip, we recently used the Abacus for some breakfast lunch and dinner functions over a few days. Great food, generous portions and really lovely staff willing to help. Thanks to the chef who did the cheese boards … so good!

Debbie in reception - lovely customer service, very helpful and smiling! Pet friendly ❤ our room had a small private courtyard to let the dog out in. Clean rooms and comfortable bed. Very accommodating with our large trailer as well. Definitely recommended!!

The care takers were absolutely lovely, the rooms were so spacious for us, so comfortable and clean. We loved how they think of everything with the car wash stuff especially after running into so many bugs on the drive over. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you.
