Amazing hikes super close to the city center.
Choose your own adventure and difficulty level.
You can get up to 3 hours of loop hikes starting from the Zig Zag trail.
Definitely recommend

A very pleasant day walking in some lovely countryside, a swim in the very clean outdoor swimming pool, and a bite to eat in the cafe.

A seriously beautiful (short but steep) walk. It took longer than usual because it’s easy to get swept up in all the beauty!

This is a good simple hike for anyone who is in average health. Take the King's Bridge route, I reckon it's easier than the other way round, if you want it easier. You don't need special hiking shoes for your trail, at least when it's not raining. It's got a really nice laid path.
The best part, at the end of the trail you get to Rotunda, restaurant and they have the most gorgeous looking peacocks and peahens I've ever seen. 😍
This is a fun hike, for all ages - I hope you'll enjoy it.

Short walk to the viewing platform for an excellent view up the gorge and the swing bridge. No crowds. Great photos

Beautiful reserve with local wildlife. You can pay to take the cable car over and pack. There’s also a swimming pool there.

A brilliant reserve and a fabulous addition to the main basin reserve. Easy to get to and to walk. Well worth getting some comfortable shoes and walking the Zig Zag reserve, well worth the experience and its a very easy walk.

The view from the lookout over the Gorge is fantastic. Well worth the walk. This track has many steps and is narrow in places, so biking isn't really an option.

Lots of great views here including several well-constructed viewing platforms, the walking tracks are surfaced in gravel and are steep in places (with plenty of stone steps), suitable for families and for confident joggers (bring drinks and first aid gear in case of slips).

This local energetic .unparrell views of gorge and trevallyn homes amongst the trees .is a world class vigorous walk climb and natural escape from the busy CBD .
Easy stroll from CBD centre along Patterson street .once past the beautiful stone building of the penny royal apartments and climbing excitement .
Steady climb up some stone steps before bridge crossing .
Indulgence in the naturally formed steps and path to viewing platforms .and incredible rock formations with water from Duck reach that makes its way to the main Tamar river .
What ever the weather it's a spectacular walk .workout for many .but a slow gradual climb and plenty of stops to admire the views will impress most visitors and always delights the locals that daily walk .run and take in the quietness .bird calls and water rushing through the stones and boulders .
A must do on any day .evening that you can share or selfishly alone .even the chairlift gives another perspective of the surrounding nature Ampitheatre
Enjoy it all

Tricky up stairs walk but worth it for the views and best way up to the gorge reserve given that the other walk is closed at the moment.

It's a good place if you are looking for a one hour return walk. You can start at cataract gorge and end there in about an hour or 1.5 hrs. The scenery is pretty cool and the walk isn't hard.

Loved walking on this track
I recommend people to walk from the Cataract Gorge cafe side to Launceston as it isn't hard. Best views of the valley and the Gorge it's self. Best track for the fitness people
