Hume Dam

Beautiful scenery as the dam overlooks a lake with a horizon of mountain ranges. You can take a walk across the dam and have a complete view of eqch side along with the gates that control the dam. Its an amazing and serene place and I bet it looks superb during a rainy day although please watch out since theres a flood warning sign. A barbecue place is available for a small occasion and free parking is there. Overall, a wonderful place for a quality leisure time.

Very beautiful area about 15 mins drive from Albury. Good place to picnic or do just a short visit to see the dam, large area with good parking. You see the dam from top of the wall and can walk along the length of the wall. Gets chilly & windy in winters but still an experience worth a visit if nearby

Incredible place to see.
It's very peaceful with plenty to see and do.
You can spend your time having a BBQ, picnic, walk around in the surrounds or ontop of the wall, great photo opportunities and there are public toilets here.

Whenever non-locals are visiting I always take them here.

An engineering marvel admits a beautiful, breathtaking scenery. It's free entry with limited parking. We went during the school holidays weekend and could find parking as it wasn't very crowded.

Nice picnic spot for families. Can walk across the dam via walkway along the dam wall. ample parking spots near the dam with bbq facility and shed. Toilets near the parking. Can purchase ice cream from near by shop. On a sunny day great place to be. Did see caravan park near to the dam entry. Will definitely visit again.

This is an awesome place to stop and take in the views with a stroll along the dam wall and a clean picnic area to park up, heaps or parking and loos nearby always love stopping here

Seeing a dam up close and personal makes you really appreciate all the engineering and construction marvels and awed by the sheer power of the water. It was interesting to see one side of the dam that was so calm and the other side so powerful.

It is one of the best places to visit around the albury with friends and family.

Turns out that this dam was a bigger deal than The Sydney Opera house at one time. Great place to have a walk and spend a couple of hours with your kids, family or by yourself. The sunsets here are good and it's a cool place to walk around and learn a bit about the history of this place.
If you could see a gate opening or water discharging at some point, it is a great sight. You can feel the amount of water pressure gushing through a small opening and it is quite exciting. You can walk along on the top of the bridge and around the reservoir too.

The view of the dam was magnificent. Moreover, nearby spot has been well maintained. There are spots to have your picnic. Kids will love it. Nice spots too for selfie. Try going on a bright sunny day for a better experience.

Well worth a visit, impressive to see, interesting to read the history and building of dam. Views are great, no drone area. Nice bbq area, toilets, plenty of parking

This was an amazing experience - currently the dam is overflowing, and the sheer power of all the water flowing through it is very awe inspiring. I'd highly recommend taking a look while it's still overflowing. If you take kids, you'll definitely want to keep a close eye on them though.

What a wonderful accomplishment for Australia!! We need more of it !!
When you think that most of the work was done by hand or with very limited steam mechanical power .
At present there is not much parking available as the dam is full and very popular. I would suggest you leave you van behind when visiting as there is no provision for vans and very tight turnaround.

Been here couple of time now. Mostly as stop over between our Melbourne to Sydney trips. Has toilets , shaded picnic area and mainly lot of place for a quick walk and beautiful scenery as refreshment to the eyes.

Lucky to see Rainbow at Hume Dam. Superb atmosphere. Also water Gate open and see amazing water flow. Also some raining. Also nice day for Walk

Great place to visit with family, especially when dam is full and releasing water. Great lake view accommodations available nearby. Good facilities for picnic and BBQ, lots of shade under trees nearby. Bit windy and chilly in winter.

What a contrast in emotions. On the one hand witnessing the immense power and spectacular water display as a result of 12 spillway gates being opened, but then the resultant devastation of the massive flooding to many communities downstream. On another day the water flow would be far less spectacular but a picnic on the edge of the dam surrounds would still be very enjoyable. Hume Dam is only a 20 Min drive from Albury
