Great alternative to the commercial tour operators on the Yarra; quite literally two men and a boat! The two men are a father and son team that have been plying the lesser known Maribyrnong River for 40 years, and deliver a commentary on the rich history and local ecology of the area.

Lovely way to spend the afternoon. Went out last Sunday day with family and thoroughly enjoyed getting to see a part of Melbourne that we don't normally get to see.

The driver/host is very knowledgeable and incredibly well spoken as well as welcoming.

Highly recommend taking family or friends out for a reasonably priced afternoon on the river!

P.s. kids would love being able to wave out at all the people walking along the river too.

We had a wonderful cruise upriver and saw an incredible landscape that we had no idea was even there. The commentary is knowledgeable and delivered with such a smooth and polished narration. The Blackbird is an awesome old boat and while she's a bit rough around the edges the high level of maintenance is very evident as she runs smooth as silk. Ah awesome time thanks guys.

Lovely 94 year old ferry boat, real adventure. Very informative commentry by the captain as we travelled along the river. Weather was cold and showers but it certainly didn't spoil the outing. Highlight for our charter cruise was stopping for coffee & cake at the Boat House Cafe.

Wonderful ancient chaotic feel to the wharf and office areas, then the well worn but well kept ferry leaves efficiently and on time.
Capt. Peter Somerville's commentary is charming informative and only interrupted for a second to toot the variety of horns in greeting to shore dwellers.
Peter gives his fascinating angle on the past and present of the Maribynong for a full hour on the up river cruise, then chats with passengers on the return while his son Warwick takes the helm.
A wonderfully enjoyable and informative afternoon for any age.
