Esperance Showgrounds

Ok, I’ll be honest when I say that all previous reviews did not invite me to stay here. But I’m here now to share my review which is different from my first tought.
- As you can read from the first photo, this Showgrounds is “designed to accommodate travellers while there are no commercial camping sites available”. Which is extremely right! We spent one hour driving around to find a spot available and, maybe because is weekend, this was the only one available.
- “We are the last option, and we strongly encourage booking accommodation before arriving in Esperance. They can’t undercut their rates” that’s fair. We paid for an powered site close to the highway 48$/night. This site is asking for $40/per night for two people. If you are more, there is an extra $10 if I’m not wrong. I would like to clarify that in that price you have hot shower and kitchen camp included (and they are not disgusting) So, what we are talking about?
- “please be nice to our volunteers” John opened the check-in office even if we were 5minutes late (the trading hours are 3pm-6pm). He introduced himself kindly, made my booking and gave me some friendly advise for a dinner place.

So please future travellers keep in mind those things.

They only thing that I don’t understand is the Dog fee which is $5.

But overall, I will recommend it!

Absolutely heaps of space and very friendly people who look after the grounds. There are heaps of quality amenities such as toilet blocks in key locations, two wonderful shower/bathroom facilities, a well appointed camp kitchen with power, bbq griddle, hotplates, microwave and a mini library. It is about 500 metres from the foreshore beach, shops and the general township and there is an indoor pool across the road. It's a little pricey at $60 per night but a welcome reprieve as the booking we made for a local caravan park fell through.

This place is the salvation.
Open in December/january when all the commercial campings are fully booked.
No prebook. You just arrive and check in at the door (9am7pm).
Caravans, car, tent, your choice.
Toilettes, shower (stadium ones) and a little kitchen (you have to bring your own stuff).
35$ for a night 2 in a tent.
Check out by 10 am.

great basic place to tent, not fancy but good enough to sleep. only open on overflow period in Esperance when everywhere else is booked. it was $30 no-power for no electricity for 2 adults. great showers and toilet.

Great camping spot. Even stables to keep dogs in while seeing national parks. Friendly, clean and good showers and toilets

Was a bit skeptical of the show grounds due to other reviews but was pleasantly surprised. For 35 AUD a night, it was a good spot to park the camper for a little. The bathrooms were decently maintained and functional, and there were 3 shower stalls that were actually pretty hot.

We went there on 23 Dec 2022 for camping. This place will be used as an overflow campground every December and January, which means you go there directly without booking. The camp site is not powered but you can charge your phone in the shower rooms and kitchen. The location is close to everything and it is a perfect place to stay.

Great place to stay, right in the middle of Esperence.

Loved it. Took us back to our childhood. Nothing has changed, horse jumping, massive ag equipment, sponge cooking and other competitions and lots of things that the local kids contributed.

My review is for the little playground on the show grounds. We love this spot. Excellent playground and having the ovals there is great for licking a ball or throwing a Frisbee or flying a kite!

Very interesting & loads for children to do.

Stayed at the overflow for two nights, great spot with very friendly and helpful camp hosts, offered for me to camp close to them since I was travelling alone. Showers/bathroom/kitchen clean and well maintained.

Lovely grassed sites and clean toilets. We were redirected to the overflow camp site due to the fires and subsequent closure of the Eyre highway and were very impressed with what awaited us. A BIG THANKYOU to Wazza and Jo Jo for your amazing hospitality and assistance, it was greatly appreciated.

Absolutely love this place. Beside being just an overflow, facilities are great!

Had a wonderful safe 2 nights during Easter.

Nice and clean facilities: kitchen with stoves, microwave, detergent and sponges to do the dishes; showers and toilets. Close to the town centre and, most important of all, very friendly and warm people :)

Great for overnight stay with showers, toilets and drinking water to fill up your Van

Even if the proper camp sites aren't full yet you should head here anyway

Enjoyed had everything we needed but a little to expensive. Wasnt that long ago it was $12

We have only just arrived have showgrounds to ourselves.
We were able to park on some grass. My only concern is the noise from trains at night time.
