There's a lot of year-round parking, clean indoor male and female change rooms, showers and toilets; outdoor shower; grassy area; the red and yellow flags designate the safest swim area and life guards patrol in summer over the weekends and weekdays on the school holidays. (Don't swim there if there are no life guards or flags.)
It's a beautiful, clean beach with sand that can get quite compacted after a high tide, and deceptively safe due to there being shallow water for quite a distance.

The Surf Club meals are quite big and delicious. The menu has most pub favourites
We had shared dishes this Friday Night. The 4 of us ordered 2x duck spring rolls they were tasty, dips and flat bread, pork belly and Arancini balls, garlic bread. Went home very full. Great table by the window amazing views of the surf. Drinks are reasonable prices The staff were friendly and attentive very happy
Great atmosphere. You must be a social member to book and can take two guests. Membership is $55 a year and you can pay over the bar and help support our lifesavers

Kids love to surf and play in the sand there. Best of both worlds. Spectacular views of the hills and the ocean is majestic. I personally love strolling along the vast expanse of the beach.

Booked a function here for my 40th birthday and Paul was an absolute champion to deal with and super accommodating. It's great to have this facility as our new local. Big thanks to Anna too.

Excellent beach & for children. But watch out for dumpers, rips & undertow. It's an ocean beach you need to have knowledge of this. There are life guards but you must be responsible.

Great beach and relatively safe as the rip is not strong and a gently sloping beach. We have a blast on the body boards every summer. There are life guards in the summer and great facilities. Big beach and it gets very busy in summer as ot is very popular.

This is THE most family friendly ocean surf beach in Victoria. Here are 10 good reasons why...
1. It’s an ocean beach (not a bay beach), so you get real surf pretty consistently
2. The waves aren’t ‘bone-crushing’ like most other Vic ocean beaches because its relatively shallow
3. It’s patrolled by surf life savers throughout summer/to end Easter/extended according to public needs, and (swim between) flags are moved to avoid any rips or undertows that may occur
4. It rarely has seaweed (and when it does, it’s minimal)
There are no rocks. There are about 700mt down the beach at low tide, heading towards lighthouse
5. It has grass and a promenade with a view of the beach so its great if you’re injured, elderly, don’t want to walk in sand or want to spread your towels out & sit on greenery
7. It has great coffee/meals by the beach at The Dunes, post-redevelopment (Sep ’19). You can hang-out there in summer/winter in the cool/warm & enjoy watching the surf/surfing. Sensational.
8. It’s cleaner than bay beaches because it’s not in a city-engulfed bay. It faces open sea & King Island.
9. It has a river (Barwon River) for sheltered-water fun, a 5-minute walk via short-cut inland or a 25 minute walk down the beach.
10. AND it’s less than 1.5 hrs drive from Melbourne GPO, 20 minutes from Geelong, 40 minutes from Avalon Airport.

How cool is that? Come on down!

All life saving clubs deserve medals there there voluntarily to save lifes and keep people safe so wen ever you go swimming stay close to the club especially if your a tourist then you get to have a fantastic holiday in one of the best countries in the world and you get on a plane and get to see family again instead of the inside of a coffin think about it and make the wize choice

Loved the location. And the beach. The weather finally came good. The facilities are spacious and accommodating. Wish they would finish the construction work though. Seems free.
