This ol' lass is an absolute gem. We had a great time sailing around the Whitsundays and meeting new people along the way. The crew was super funny and entertaining, and the food was decent. The accommodations were what you should expect of a 100 year old sail boat and part of the experience. We went hiking and snorkeling in some amazing places with tons of sightseeing and marine life.

What a fabulous week’s adventure. We did the Walk the Whitsundays tour and can’t speak highly enough of the crew, the food and the adventures - snorkelling, hiking, swimming and exploring. Will definitely be back again.

I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a sail aboard the Solway Lass, and I have to say that it was an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, the crew was incredible - they went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

As three French girls seeking a unique and memorable adventure, we couldn't have asked for a better trip. The boat itself was gorgeous and had all the amenities we needed, but it was the crew that really made the experience special. They were knowledgeable about the area, friendly and attentive, and just an all-around joy to be around.

And let's not forget about the food! It was delicious.

Overall, I highly recommend the Solway Lass for anyone looking for a fantastic boat cruise experience. The crew, the food, and the atmosphere were all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back again someday. Thank you for an amazing trip!

Did the 3 day 2 night trip with a few mates and had a ball.

Food was amazing cooked by tay tay. The rest of the crew also made the trip extremely entertaining.

Locations and snorkelling that we did were amazing.

Boats history is incredibly interesting and the skipper told some great stories.

Boat has a great relaxed vibe and would highly recommend

Did the 3 days, 3 nights cruise and was very happy. First off there is a licensed bar which means no BYO which is a good thing as it keeps a certain type of backpacker away! Our ship had about 20 ppl which is a nice size allowing you to get to know everyone and we were looked after by 5 excellent crew.

Food was excellent and plentiful throughout the trip, 3 main meals plus morning and afternoon snacks which is perfect after a snorkel.

Ship is over 100 years old which the crew will tell you about but you can also Wikipedia as well. Boat has an engine as well as several sails which the crew let you help out with if you're keen.

Activities included Hamilton island, snorkelling (lots of fish, coral and even a couple of turtles!), rope swing of the boat, swimming, cocktails, lazing about etc.

Rooms were nice and clean, some with ensuite and some with shared bathrooms.

In the evenings we saw more fish, squid, sharks, dolphins and even a box jelly fish!

Going on this boat was the best bit of our east coast trip and I would recommend to others, unless of course you want a '18-30 party boat' in which case this may not be for you.

We did the 2 days 2 night trip and it was an incredible experience. The weather was pretty horrible the entire trip but we made the most of it snorkelling, rope swinging and chatting with fellow tourists. Since the weather was bad, seeing Whitehaven beach was quite a letdown considering the sun couldn’t reflect off the white sand. I’ve been to Whitehaven beach before when it was much nicer, so I guess I had been able to compare it to something better.

We saw a ton of wildlife on the trip regardless of the weather. We saw turtles, squid, and fish eating that squid, and dolphins eating that fish that ate that squid. We also saw baby sharks at night, which was incredible.

While the crew seemed experienced and knew what they were doing, they didn’t seem to be too engaged with the rest of the passengers. I’ve done a few overnight/day boat tours in the past and the crew on Soloway Lass were average in contrast. They were friendly, just not overly outgoing or exciting.

The main selling point for me was the ship and its history. Being a history buff, it was pretty cool sleeping on the ship knowing its been through both WW1 and 2. The rooms were well-sized, clean, and comfortable. Meals provided on the ship were OK and were your basic hamburgers, tacos, and wraps, nothing to complain about.

Would definitely recommend this trip if you want to see wildlife, Whitehaven beach, and/or experience life on a 100 year old ship.

Great experience staying on the Solway Lass. It’s a very relaxed boat with a huge amount of history. Don’t expect to see as much as the other boats (perhaps only one beach over the three days), but perhaps expect to spend a lot more time on the historic ship and less time on the actual islands.

It was an enjoyable 3 hour trip with dinner. I would have given 5 stars if we could have sailed during that time. Good story telling about a the boat’s history.

We travelled with a group of six on the Solway Lass as part of a swimming group adventure and it was a forgettable trip. Having travelled in the Whitsunday area several times we had been to many sights so understand the area well. The trip was poorly organized from the swimming spots to the safety of passengers on board and whilst the crew were pretty good on the whole clearly the skipper needed to concentrate more on his guests rather than chasing tail in the crew. Safety on the pilot boats was terrible no safety vests no lights travelling at night and crew training driving boats at night was not a great experience, as one crew member stated " we just put up with him" For our experience overpriced, ordinary food, average accommodation - it is an old ship, cold showers and a skipper with poor sexual humor and demonstrative attitude.

Someone might enjoy staying this boat, we didn’t.
I liked the idea of going on a old boat but I would not recommend it because this boat only sailed for a few hours during the whole trip. The remaining time was 3 knots on a noisy engine, which against the wind looks like not moving at all. For the 2days2night we only snorkelled twice and visit whiteheaven beach for 2 hours: this meant a lot of hours on the boat with bad sea.

- this boat should not get out with bad sea conditions, as it get boring and uncomfortable
-children below 4 years of age should not be allowed on a overnight boat as even the most polite ones are noisy. By day two the corridor smelled like diapers.
-Crew was not particularly gentle and food was of poor quality
- the guy who gave us a small tour of whiteheaven was a backpacker with no education or clue of what he was explaining. He just repeated a few phrases that he learned doing the job and some of the facts were even wrong.

At the end of the trip the mariners thanked us for coming on the trip and helping the business, but the business would need no help if better quality was provided.

We thought it was a great deal but it turned out to be. Giant waste of time and money.
