I seen Andrew in June 23 after been given only months to live from another doctor. I have stage 4 colorectal cancer with 15 Mets to the liver and 3 nodules in the lungs.
Andrew organised a cocktail of chemos, he even spoke to another oncologist closer to my home so I could do treatments closer..I couldn’t believe he actually called the oncologist…my treatment was started the next week! (Even though I was told it was a month wait)
Fast forward 6 rounds of chem I had my 3 months scans, to the surprise of my oncologist and myself I only have 2 tiny tumors in my liver left…my bowel cancers gone, nodules gone and 13 liver Mets gone!
Even though the chemo has been tough on my body - the result so far is amazing!
Thank you Andrew for not writing me off, I truly can’t thank you enough…hopefully in the near future I can say you’ve saved my life.

My wife had colon cancer and sadly passed away in 2009. She was treated by Andrew Strickland. Recently I was asked by a friend of my son which doctor treated my wife. Unfortunately his wife has a similar issue. He came back and asked was he good, as a few of the reviews were not too flattering.

I read the reviews and was moved to write my own some 13 years later. I am writing not to discount any of the negative experiences few people may have had but just to record the positive experience my wife and I had with this doctor. He was very courteous, kind and was open to discuss various options available to us. My wife, as would many, tried to avoid Chemotherapy. He was able to list the options we had and as a result we accessed SIRT twice, delivering radio active molecules to bind with the malignant cells, monoclonal antibody treatment and also entered us into a trial with Avastin. There may be better treatment available today.

It is a difficult time to the patient and their families and particularly for those who cannot accept that some of these treatments are only prolonging precious life if the decease has progressed too far. Sometimes they do get upset with everyone including their doctors. As for me and my wife, Manik, we found in Andrew Strickland a fine human being and a person very approachable and open to working with us.

PS - Just to put the record straight my wife underwent Chemotherapy initially before discussing alternatives.

My name is Ann Burgess and Assoc Prof Andrew Strickland saved my life. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma and another oncologist gave me less than six months to live. At my first appointment with Andrew, he explained carefully all I needed to know and that he would be with me through the journey. He gave me confidence to fight my illness. Over the following months, Andrew wrapped care around me- chemotherapy was organised and monitored, referrals to other specialist oncologists for testing were arranged and monitored. I knew that I could call Andrew at any time. This year, after 10 years of treatment, I was finally able to know that I would not get cancer again. Because of Andrew, I have seen my sons grow and thrive and I know I am going to live a good life. Thank you, thank you for giving me life.

My name is Stephen Moore and Dr Andrew Strickland is currently my father’s oncologist.
Andrew is a highly intelligent individual, which I imagine on not uncommon given his line of work. What is definitely not common however, is patience... compassion... caring and kindness.
Dr Strickland is one of the most thoughtful, understanding and considerate individuals that I’ve ever met. He truly is healer in every sense of the word.

Dr Andrew Strickland Has been treating my Mum has bowel cancer since early in the year. Unfortunately she became very ill with a virus at the very end of her Chemo/radiation treatment. Her hospital stay to recover was 11 weeks and Andrew was there every step of the way and saw her everyday. Andrew is an absolute legend and I can't recommend him enough for anyone going through this awful experience. Thank you Andrew!! 10 Stars from me and my family!

I had my first appointment with Professor Strickland yesterday, after recently being diagnosed with bowel cancer. Visiting an Oncologist filled me with dread, but Mr Strickland was so friendly and welcoming, whilst putting my mind at rest. He explained the process of Chemotherapy in absolute detail and I feel completely ‘safe’ with him and know I’m in very good hands. I’m feeling very lucky to have been referred to him. My sons accompanied me to the appointment and they were also very impressed.

Wish we never used this Doctor. He came highly recommended, and upon reflection, I have no idea why? He wrote my mum off because she had pancreatic cancer. Actually did the same to my friends husband with pancreatic cancer. Told him to “wrap up his affairs and enjoy the time he has left”. This was over a year ago and he’s still alive and doing well.
He was arrogant, useless and lacks empathy. And just wasn’t informative at all - my mum was just another number for him.

The most condescending doctor I have ever dealt with, avoid this man like the plague. He was the most useless unhelpful person I've ever come across, and laughed at the family members of a dying patient when they asked if they could get some insight from someone else. This man should not be allowed to have contact with dying persons, his lack of respect for his patients and lack of interest in explaining any expectations in regards to my dying family members cancer is abborent. Poor career choice for someone who lacks any empathy.
