A spur of the moment decision to stop for lunch as we were driving back from Sale. This turned out to be the highlight of our trip - extraordinary restaurant with excellent food, great service. We asked for a 5 course meal without red meat and they not only accommodated our request but served us the best food we've tasted in a while.
Special mention about the staff - they are as exceptional as the food here.

Neilsons Kitchen/Little prince catered our wedding and I cannot speak highly enough about this wonderful crew and the magic that they whip up in the kitchen.

Our guests continuously told us how incredible the food was and that there was an abundance of it (if you're anything like us, this is always the number 1 concern).

Our guests with dietary concerns and the children were looked after with lovely individually boxed meals that were well thought out, rather than the usual 'after thought' that you normally see. It made these guests feel special!

The beautiful staff gave me a little poke every now and then, reminding me that "The bride has to eat too!!" which I admittedly forgot while I was connecting with family and friends.

Even more amazingly, the team committed to delivering wonderful service despite getting rained on... we felt absolutely terrible that the crew were getting wet and offered to move their marquee to keep them nice and dry, but they committed to keep moving food out to our guests and didn't want to disrupt service.

Fine dining. We had the 5 course menu. Delicious and generous servings.

Great food. This would be an amazing, characterful and competitive restaurant in a big town, and its here in a fairly small one. Head and shoulders above what I expected as a passer through. I'd easy drive a 40min trip there and back for this if I wanted a tripmayne even more if I wanted to make a day of it. They also have a vegan menu if you ask.

This is a delightful restaurant and we had a very enjoyable Saturday lunch with friends. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were able to fit us in without a reservation. The menu was very interesting and we enjoyed all our dishes including the slow cooked lamb gnocchi, ox cheek with porterhouse steak and barramundi. Food and service were great and it was good value for money.

Did not expect to have such a magnificent lunch at this cute little restaurant. They do set menu of 2 course or 3 course for lunch.

As part of the 2 course set menu, we opted for the following : cream of cauliflower soup, crispy squid, crispy skin barramundi and we added prawn vol au vent for extra. Everything are incredibly delicious and of high standard.

Definitely would go back again if we're in Traralgon.

Went for solo lunch and it was a pretty good experience.. I had the 3 courses ($45) .. chose the tuna tartar, ox cheek and the millefeuille.. the tuna was fresh and refreshing, wagyu ox cheek was incredibly tender- melt in the mouth (not to mention the huge portion), and millefeuille was superb! Smooth thick velvety chocolate cream, dulce de leche and crispy pastry, just perfect! 👌🏻

Came here for my mums birthday. The food was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were great. Really enjoyed the service. The staff were very attentive. It is a bit noisy but we still had a wonderful time

What a great place. Went in for lunch today. It is a 2 or 3 course set menu but there are heaps of choices and all were good. Stand out dishes were the tuna tartare starter and the filled pastas. Presentation and flavours were excellent. It is unbelievable value for the quality and care taken with the food.

Fantastic spot for eating and drinking at in Traralgon. We really enjoyed our first visit. The food was superb, great wine list and the service was top notch. We can’t wait to go back and eat at Neilsons Kitchen again soon 👍

Neilsons has a great atmosphere and we keep coming back when in Traralgon. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. It can be a little noisy if you're in a room with a large party but there are a few rooms you can sit in as well as outdoor tables.
The 2 or 3 course deals are great options and great value for the quality of the food. It is a choose your own adventure - have some cocktails and shared plates or sit down for a 3 course dinner.
There's lots of options on the menu that would appeal to different diners.
Choose wisely and you'll have a stunning dinner. Don't go past the mango passionfruit tart for dessert. We'll be back.

Incredible meal - notably the burrata, barramundi, and Mille-feuille desserts. Impeccable flavours, plating, service and atmosphere. Absolutely recommend this place! If you’re road-tripping through, you won’t regret the detour.

Best fried chicken burger! The chicken is crispy and crunchy all over the outside, and juicy and tender inside. The spices are nice and the sauce is all balanced. Perfect!

Great ambience. Excellent service. Beautiful plating and heavenly tasting food. The dessert is worth the meal itself.

If you are looking for a quiet, charming and cosy little place to wine & dine, Nelson's could be that little gem that you are looking for. Service is ace which makes for a great experience altogether.

This is my favourite restaurant and I have never had a bad meal here. Flavour, quality and freshness of the meals is on point.

$49 for 2 courses or $59 for 3 courses is amazing value for food that is chef hat quality with generous portion sizes. Great cocktail menu, range of wines and local craft beers.
