Heirisson Island Kangaroo Sanctuary

Brilliant little walk around with kangaroos to look at.
Area is clean and well taken care of, no litter anywhere during my visit.
Path is rustic and natural, which is great for wildlife.
I went around 17.30 and saw at least 7 different kangaroos, which was fantastic!
Above there will be parrots, parakeets and long legged fishing birds flying overhead.
I was here for approximately an hour and really enjoyed seeing one of the animals that Australia is so famous for!
Even though there are construction works going on its still a super little trip out!

Absolutely beautiful place to walk around. We were told that nothing was here because of the construction, but that was by no means correct. Once you get through the gates, it is a beautiful grassy area with a flat walking trail. We went around sunset and it was stunning. There were 4-5 kangaroos and quite a few places to stop and enjoy the sunset. Absolutely beautiful.

On our last day in Perth, we were lucky to find this place and spot some kangaroos hiding under the trees. It was a quite spacious area, and we had to be patient to see the kangaroos. But it was worth it. :)

The island is small and doesn't have much to offer. We arrived around 11am in a summer sunny day and spotted some kangaroos. However, I think in afternoon or around sunset and during mild weather season is the best time to see kangaroos around the sanctuary area.

It’s a place where you can see nature’s creation including wildlife habitat. Pleasant surroundings with greenery all around and river flowing next to it. Good trail inside where you can see calm & friendly Kangaroos along with birds. Hidden gem inside Perth city. The place is very well maintained with benches available for sitting

A lovely sanctuary just outside the city of Perth.

Heirisson Island Kangaroo Sanctuary has ample free parking and well maintained walking paths with lots of little nooks to get away from city life to enjoy wildlife and scenery making you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.

Definitely recommend a visit if you’re nearby, take a picnic, a camera and enjoy a nice stroll .

A hidden gem of the inner city where you can peacefully walk amongst the kangaroos and other local wildlife. The hustle and bustle of the city and causeway quickly melts away.

Best kept secret but why many are bringing bicycles and e scooters through the gate? How about a parking rack?
