I booked my father in for a consultation recently which was confirmed several times to be an INITIAL consultation by the girl on the phone, as my father had not been back to New England Chiropractic in 12 months and things had changed. He filled out the initial paperwork, gave them his pension and Medicare number (which should have been on file) and was seen by a locum Chiropractor who spent less than 15 minutes with him. My father has been in so much pain for months, and his GP gave him 5 certificates to attend chiropractic sessions 'for free.' The person my father saw basically regurgitated what the doctor's report said and mentioned nothing about helping him going forward or pain management. His appointment was over within 15 minutes, and he still had to pay an excess of $17 for that. I noticed the inconsistency in the time dad was allotted for what an initial consultation was supposed to be, so I called hoping for answers. Apparently, despite what I was told about dad needing an initial consultation, he was given a 'follow up' instead. He hadn't been to the chiropractor in 12 months and has a lot more back issues now, but 2 years is the apparent cut-off for 'follow up' visits. Once again, I noticed a discrepancy in price between what he had to pay (the excess) and the price of a follow up session. I was then told it was actually a 'new evaluation appointment' and that was $10 more. So, NOT an 'initial consultation.' An 'EVALUATION consultation.' Because that makes sense. My father has not received adequate care, nor was he given any apology for the mix-up, and the staff we dealt with were quite cold. New England Chiropractic is not a place for wellness. It is a place for vulnerable people (many of whom are pensioners) to shell out $145 for a 30 minute initial consultation, and $65 every follow up which will be 10 MINUTES long. If you have a concession card, you can get $10 off. So, pensioners are being charged $55 for 10 minutes of care. That's pretty inhumane to charge that much for that amount of time, especially in today's economic climate. My elderly father remains in a lot of pain, and with no advice or support from the practitioner's at New England Chiropractic (apart from walking-which dad suggested first), he's pretty disheartened. For anyone looking for a chiropractor, unless you have money to burn, don't bother looking here because you will NOT get your money's worth!
