Very informative and fun. Highly recommend a visit if you’re passing by. Opal available for purchase is fairly priced and high quality. You can walk to the top of the building which has a beautiful view perfect to catch a sunset.

Great place to visit. The 20 min film was worth it. Pay to go underground to see the old dugout and the modern dugout. Also you get to go into a mine. Great staff.

The short film was very informative, and our tour guide was really great! He managed to remember so much information and delivered it in a way that kept both the kids and adults entertained! (Even when our toddler cracked a wobbly half way through!!)

Fascinating! Well worth the tour at 10am. Our tour guide grew up in the unique town of Coober pedy, the daughter of a local miner so she really knew her stuff. Such a unique place and the museum really gives you the feel for it. Plus there's opal jewellery for sale ranging from cheap prices with opal chips, to some super high end stunning jewellery

It was a great experience to learn about opal mining and dugout houses. The tour is approximately an hour ,20 mins at the theatre and 40 mins in the mining.

Very cool place to visit. We didnt do the tour itself as done a similar one just before. We visited the museum and shop and that itself was worth it. Very interesting information. And the staff are very friendly and helpful, explained us a lot about the different opal kinds. Thanks lots 😃

Considering the museum is free, it is extremely well maintained, clean and informative. Displays are not just limited to opals but also provide an insight into the historical geography and makeup of the region. Informative and interesting, this place is well worth a visit if you're visiting Coober Pedy.

We really did enjoy the shopping with Ivy. She did an amazing Job as our Saleswoman. Wifey found three awesome opal jewelleries. We wish Ivy happy travels and don't forget to go to Lucky Bay near Esperance 😁👍

We went here during the Oasis tour and found the tour guide Rudi to be extremely informative. Lots of interesting stories! Was cool seeing underground and hearing what it’s like for opal miners. Great display of opals in the store ranging in price from around $15- $62,000! staff were friendly. Coffee & tea available as part of the tour.

What a fantastic place and area. We were very impressed by the way people actually work and live underground.

The whole area was an experience you'll never forget. If you get the chance to visit the area I'd highly recommend it. The kids and adults will all enjoy.

Don't forget to give this a thumbs up 👍 if you found it helpful.

If you have time to visit only one museum in CP, then this should be it. It's one of the best museums we've visited. Great displays. Free to visit. Reasonably priced jewellery shop. Nice souvenirs. Don't miss the lookout on the terrace.
